Hi,
originally Broadcom got Bluetooth certificate for BCM4343W (and also for BCM43430 / BCM4343S / BCM43438) via
QD ID 56580 / Declaration ID D022749
https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=22749
having also these details:
Specification Name: 4.1
Core: 4.0 or later
Product type: Component (Tested)
Certification Assessment Date: 2014/May/12
Unfortunately that certification is now going to expire, due to three year limit (AFAIR such rule).
I found that Broadcom has also newer certification:
https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=27844
Declaration ID D027844
QD ID 80065
Qualification Assessment Date January/29/2016
but that is for BCM4343 / BCM43430 / BCM43436. BCM4343W is not exactly mentioned with it.
Thus my question;
a. does that newer certificate with declaration ID 27844 cover also 4343W?
OR
b. is there any other new certificate that is valid also for 4343W?
Thanks!

The CYW4343W BT 4.2 listing is here on the Sig Website: Launch Studio - Listing Details
I believe this has been supported since SDK 5.0.

Cypress is in the process of relisting this device. I don't know the ETA, but when I get more information I will report back for you - I'm tracking this request for another customer,

<<<a. does that newer [Broadcom] certificate with declaration ID 27844 cover also 4343W?
The Broadcom certificate does not cover the Cypress device. I'll let you know the Cypress ID when available.
To see what BT features are implemented (in the optional parts of the spec), click the >>>DISPLAY ICS DETAILS>>> URL at the BT SIG site for the Broadcom BCM4343W URL you provided. It's the same silicon as Cypress device.

Has there been any update on the BT SIG certification/re-listing yet under the new CYW4343W part number?

I am looking into this as well. It appears that our previous 3-year cert under Broadcom expired in May. From what I can tell, this re-certification was planned for Q2 and will include an update to BT 4.2.
Copying snal as he had asked about this as well for another module partner.

Mike,
Thanks for your quick response.
We were previously informed that the BCM4343W / CYW4343W would not support BT4.2
- Has this now changed?

We now support LE Secure connections under BT 4.2 on all WICED Combo devices which supported previously BT 4.1 (4343W was one of them, 43340 supported BT 4.0)
While the BT Sig allows one to certify BT 4.2 or BT 5 with no optional features supported, we wanted to support at least one before certifying.

Mike
On couple of Cypress webpages and in Cypress documentation, the CYW4343W is still referred to as a Bluetooth 4.1 device, leading users to query how their CYW4343W based module can be "upgraded" for BLE 4.2 operation.
Is there a forum posting or comment elsewhere that perhaps addresses this?
From what version of WICED Studio is the 4.2 BLE stack supported?
Thanks
