Attempting to interconnect Broadcom 8 port BCM53128 to the Cypress CYUSB3610.  Want to attempt to do a transformerless interconnection (with R & C’s), or perhaps a single 1:1 transformer instead of the traditional phy transformers since these are both co-located on the PCB board.

Hi

It is recommended to use RJ45 with integrated magnetic coil but you can try with discrete components. Magnetic component(xfmr) used must follow the standards as followed by Bothhand LA1S109-43(Turns Ratio 1CT:1CT). Also keep the magnetic coil and Giga PHY controller as close as possible(<5 inches). Follow all the hardware design guidelines as mentioned in section 4.5 of AN97119.

Also I am attaching one reference circuit for GX3 + GX3 GigaPHY-to-GigaPHY connection.  It uses AC coupling capacitors, but it is qualified for GX3 only.

Thanks & Regards
