USB EZ-PD™ Type-C Forum Discussions
Hi
I'm using CY4500 EZ-PD Protocol Analyzer Utility for debugging my USB Type-C application.
I cannot find the "HPD State" on the Details window after I update the utility from v1.0 to 3.1.0.
How can I see the line for "HPD State" decoding result on the details window?

Hi,
I am not able to use the CY4500 PD software on MacOS. The software launches but in some sort of corrupted state that leaves it non-functional. It does not detect the analyzer hardware and clicking "Start" from status bar does nothing. I have attached a screenshot.
I am on M1 MacBook Pro, MacOS 13.5.2.
I posted previously about the software not launching at all and was told to install Java 8. I edited the program's Info.plist to force it to use JDK 1.8.0_181 because it was trying to use JDK 10 before, despite using jenv to switch my default Java to 8. This enabled the software to launch but it is still non-functional as described above.
I have also attached log file.
Show LessI know USB PD typically uses only one CC line, but if both CC lines were used, is it possible to switch between the two and send packets or decide which one to connect to, with both Rd pulldowns present at the same time?
Show LessHi!
We have a USB-C dock, with the dock USB-C port typically then in UFP / Source mode, connecting with a laptop.
We are investigating a use-case when the laptop is connected via an Active USB-C cable with an EMCA providing the Status message as a response from a Get_Status sent from our dock.
However, looking at the EZ-PD documentation it looks like it is not allowed per specification to send messages from an UFP to EMCA. However, in PD 3.1 spec, it says:
Are you able to clarify during which circumstances it is possible to send / recieve messages from an UPF / Power Source to the EMCA via the EZ-PD API and/or HPI interface?
Cheers
Olof
Show LessHello Support.
Thank you for your usual support.
I would like to write on the SWD line in CCG7D.
Regarding power supply from external power supply to VDDD
・Is it possible to supply 3V from outside?
・Is there no problem even if I don't stop the internal LDO?
best regards,
Koki
Hi,
I'm making a designed for the CY7110 EZ-PD™ PMG1-S0 prototyping Kit based on this project example :
https://github.com/Infineon/mtb-example-pmg1-usbpd-sink
The design needs a lot of functionalities :
- USB-PD Sink
- I2C Slave with Receive and Transmit (Deepsleep wake-up with I2C command received / interrupt)
- UART RX/TX for debugging
- ADC sampling for Vbus, Internal Temperature, and external voltages on pins.
To achieve the purpose of my design and use all this functionalities, I used this other project examples :
- UART : https://github.com/Infineon/mtb-example-pmg1-hello-world
- I2C : https://github.com/Infineon/mtb-example-pmg1-i2c-slave-led
- ADC SAR Vbus: https://github.com/Infineon/mtb-example-pmg1-8-bit-saradc-basic
- ADC SAR Internal Temperature : https://github.com/Infineon/mtb-example-pmg1-on-chip-temp-sensor-8-bit-saradc
This is how is configured my device :
The PMG1-S0 is said to have 2 ADC's :
But i can't find how to use the second one.
Anyone can help ?
For information, the first one is used for this measurements :
The second one would be for adc1, adc2, adc3 (see the picture "how is configured my device").
Thank you,
Benjamin
Show LessHello
My customer is using Minirogr4 with PC software to program CCGx PD controller on development.
My customer wants to know if there is any ISP programmer/Gang programmer that can program CCGx PD controller. (no PC required)
Could you please let me know if there is any ISP /Gang Programmer to program CCGx PD controller as stand-alone?
Regards,
Jake
Show LessHi all,
I am designing electronically labeled USB Type-C active cables (USB 3.2 Gen2x2) and would like to use CYPD2105-20FNXIT (CCG2). In the documents "Designing USB 3.1 Type-C Cables with EZ-PD ™ CCG2" (AN95615) and "Hardware Design Guide for EMCA/Cable Design with EZ-PD CCG2" (AN95599), the CYPD2105-20FNXIT schematic design with Redriver is shown below. In both diagrams, there is always a connection from the CYPD2105-20FNXIT to the adapter driver. Now I have a few questions:
Source: 95615 Anne
Source: 95599 An
1. What does "from CCG2 GPIO" mean in the picture? Which GPIO do I have to use? What is the communication between the electronic marker and the re-driver?
What is the communication between the e-marker and the redriver? Only certain redrivers can be used, which ones? Will the retimer also work?
3. is there an EMCA reference design that uses the CYPD2105-20FNXIT and an adapter driver?
4. When using the software "EZ-PD Configuration Utility" to configure the CYPD2105-20FNXIT, there is a parameter "Ra Removal Delay". What does this mean?
5. Besides the CY4532, what other evaluation boards should I use to develop an active EMCA?
Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards
Birdby

Show LessHi Friends!
Not so EZ-PD strikes again! I have tried *EVERYTHING* to get my CYPD5225 to connect to a pair of headphones.... or a USBC-PD charger.... and I can't get it to work.
ROLE_PREFERENCE_ENABLE
Seems to be maybe related to the solution??? ...but good luck finding any documentation on what that does.... or even where to find it, as the SDK code is not properly linked within PSoC Creator.
If I configure the device PDO's to be "prefer source", then I can connect to the headphones.... and I can't connect to a charger to save my life.
if I configure the device for "prefer sink" then I can connect to the charger.... but can't connect to the headphones.
HELP!!!!
Show LessHi all,
I have been struggling to find the reference design files for the EZ-PD CCG3PA 45W PowerBank (https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/evaluation-boards/vd_usb_ccg3pa_45w_pwrbnk/?utm_source=cypress&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=202110_globe_en_all_integration-reference_design&redirId=RD77)
The only files that are available through that link consists of datasheets for the CCG3 chip instead of the actual reference design.
Is there somewhere else that I need to be looking to get these files?
Thank you in advance.
