Hi!

We are making special kind of HDMI-to-USB Type-C adapter where we intended to use CCG3 together with Parade PS8743. Since there is a built-in aux-mux in that mux, is there any need for us to route AIUX/SBU via the CCG3? We can apply AUX pull-up/down separately. We planned base the FW on the CYPD3125 Notebook code since we will design is rather similar to the EVK base-board design (external DP input, USB-C is DP source). Anything to consider in this combination?

Cheers

Hello,

The purpose of the crossbar in CCG3 is to detect for plug connection orientation and route the SBU lines to the AUX of Display depending on the connection. If this functionality can be met using the external Mux and if the respective pull ups can be added then you may route the SBU signals directly skipping the CCG3.

Best Regards,

Hello,

Please refer to the below reference design which uses CCG3 for HDMI to type C solution.

https://www.cypress.com/documentation/reference-designs/ez-pd-ccg3-based-hdmi-over-type-c-cable-refe...

Please note that we only provide the hardware schematic for the reference design, no firmware support is provided.

Hi!

We are actually making a HDMI-to-USB-C, not USB-C-to-HDMI as the reference is and for that (and to keep support for USB 3 / SS) we need to the alt-mode mux. So the design is rather similar to the CCG3 EVK. So question is if we need to use the AUX/SBU mux if we have the Parade mux in place.
