I understand it SBU1/2 pins are generally use for Alternate modes as a use for lower speed control and communication signals. What would need to be done by a customer to turn these pins into a general UART interface?
Would they need to define and assign their own alternate mode? If they were in control of both sides (PC control App and end device) I would assume they could send over the Alt mode capabilities, and understand that the channel is meant for UART communication correct?

Hi,
Yes, given that both ends understand that SBU will be used for UART, it is enough to communicate the alternate mode over CC and negotiate appropriately while the SBU lines can be routed to the UART at each end.
Is customer using any specific CCGx part for this application?
