Hi

I wanted to find out if there is any reference design / application notes or any documents where the EZ-PD CCG3 has been combined with the EZ-USB FX3 controller?

Hi Bilal,

1. FX3 is USB3.0 device only IC. So that Cypress have Type-C port + FX3 reference design without Power delivery controller. In this design, the Type-C port is power sink role only.Designing FX3™/CX3-Based USB Type-C Products - KBA218460

2. If you are going to a deign with CCG3 + FX3, there are no existing reference design / application notes or any documents where the EZ-PD CCG3 has been combined with the EZ-USB FX3 controller. But the design is still very easy to completed.

a. first, you need to know what's role you are going to designing on Type-C port.

b. Since FX3 only need 5V/3.3V/1.2V voltage, there need boost DC regulator for it.

c. The CCG3 CT4531 kits is DRP role design, you can refer it in details. http://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/cy4531-ez-pd-ccg3-evaluation-kit

Best Regards,

Lisa

Hi Bilal,

We are so sorry for that there are no reference design/application notes/documents where the CCG3 CY4531 Evaluation kit has been combined with the FX3 SuperSpeed Explorer Kit. Since it is very sample to design a FX3 with Type-C power deliery. If this is your requirements, feel free to let us know and submit schematic to Cypress for reviewing. We are very glad to help.

Best Regards,

Lisa
