Question:

How can the 2073x, 2070x-A2, and 20719-B1 devices be configured in HCI mode where it accepts HCI commands from an external host over UART interface?

Answer:

20719-B1-based Devices/Modules:

These devices/modules have on chip flash memory. The modules include CYBT-423028-02, CYBT-413034-02, CYBT-483039-02.

The HCI mode for these devices:

  • Works after power ON if the device is loaded with any non-Bluetooth project (Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Bluetooth BR/EDR) for example GPIO application which is part of the SDK.

Note: Pulling CTS pin LOW on power ON will put the device in download mode where the device accepts only one HCI reset command, and then waits for download commands. Device does not accept rest of the HCI commands in this mode.

2070x-A2 based Devices/Modules:

These devices/modules have optional SPI based external flash memory. The modules include CYBT-343026-01, CYBT-353027-02, CYBT-333032-02, CYBT-343151-02.

The HCI mode for these devices:

  • Works after power ON if the device is loaded with any non-Bluetooth project (Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Bluetooth BR/EDR) for example GPIO application which is part of the SDK.
  • If HCI mode does not work then pull the SPI2_MOSI pin low on Power ON to put the device in HCI mode where it starts accepting all HCI commands.

2073x based Devices/Modules:

These devices/modules have SPI based external flash memory. Module includes CYBLE-013025-00.

Load the device with any non-Bluetooth project (Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Bluetooth BR/EDR).  Pull the UART_RXD line high on power ON so that the device enters HCI mode where it accepts HCI commands.

Standard baud rate for HCI communication is 115200 bps.
