Question: What should I do if I get a "Can't acquire device" error when programming a PSoC® 1 device?
Answer:
There are three possible causes for this error:
- You may be using the wrong programming mode.
If the on-board power supply is ON, you should use reset mode. If you use power cycle mode, the on-board power will cause the error message "Can't acquire device.” - The connection between the chip and programming cable may be broken.
Check the connections between the PSoC pins and the programmer. - Your setup may violate the ISSP Specifications.
Make sure that the type and length of cable used to connect the programmer to the device meet the specified rise and fall times.
