When the Soft AP is started with a passphrase, the radio firmware takes over 2 seconds to convert the passphrase into a pairwise master key (PMK), whenever a client STA associates. The delay occurs between the Association Response and the first EAPOL Key frame sent by the Soft AP, and may cause problems when multiple STAs attempt to associate at the same time.

To reduce the delay between Association Response and the first EAPOL Key frame from 2 seconds to 5 milliseconds, the passphrase to PMK conversion can be moved to the host so that the Soft AP is started with the PMK. This allows the Soft AP to quickly associate one or multiple STAs.
