Hi @randy Could you please verify or review your custom board with Murata? and check if the NVRAM parameters need to be modified example internal LPO or external LPO etc.

hi @randy  Could you please let me know which driver are you using? could you please with the latest driver and let us know if the issue persists.  The link to the latest driver is available at the following link -> https://community.infineon.com/t5/Wi-Fi-Bluetooth-for-Linux/Cypress-Linux-WiFi-Driver-Release-FMAC-2...

Hi Vivek:

Thanks for reply.

Can you tell me the meaning of error code "BCME_NOTDOWN" of brcmf_fil_errstr, that's the error code I got from log. it looks like the firmware issue. I'v tried the Zigra's firmware and latest firmware.

The driver patch I used: cypress-fmac-v4.14.77-2020_0115.

the firmware and NVRAM branch: Zigra

I need to bring up this moudule with kernel version 4.14, so I can't use the latest driver.

Hi @randy

-> Regarding the comment "I need to bring up this module with kernel version 4.14, so I can't use the latest driver."
The latest driver supports older kernels too through backporting, the latest driver  v5.10.9-2022_0511 supports from kernel 4. x to kernel v5.10.9, the backporting instructions are available in the README of the driver.

->  "BCME_NOTDOWN " is seen when the driver expected the module to be in a down state but not.

You could try with the latest driver and check if the issue persists.?

-> Was the firmware download successful with Zigra driver + Zigra Firmware?

Regards
Vivek

Hi @randy for the latest NVRAM files you can check with the module vendor.

Hi Vivek:

sorry for late, my environment need compile kernel with arm64, so I used defconfig in arm64 instead of imx_v7_defconfig.

when I excute this command,  some error occured as below.

Hi @randy

There are 2 issues
1) implicit declaration of function ‘verify_pkcs7_signature’
This is seen when the following are not enabled in the kernel config
CONFIG_ASYMMETRIC_KEY_TYPE=y
CONFIG_ASYMMETRIC_PUBLIC_KEY_SUBTYPE=y
CONFIG_X509_CERTIFICATE_PARSER=y
CONFIG_PKCS7_MESSAGE_PARSER=y
Please verify if the above switches are enabled, For more details please refer to the README document present in the driver folder.

2)patch error
Could you please confirm if the kernel was downloaded from the following link -> t https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/snapshot/linux-5.10.9.tar.gz
and the patch file used are from the following link -> https://community.infineon.com/t5/Wi-Fi-Bluetooth-for-Linux/Cypress-Linux-WiFi-Driver-Release-FMAC-2...

Hi @randy Could you please souring the toolchain and then compile the kernel and check if the issue still persists?

Hi Vivek:

I compile the .ko module, the error appeared when I insmod cfg80211,  I'v enabled the config setting bellow

# insmod compat.ko
# insmod cfg80211.ko

# CONFIG_ASYMMETRIC_KEY_TYPE=y
# CONFIG_ASYMMETRIC_PUBLIC_KEY_SUBTYPE=y
# CONFIG_X509_CERTIFICATE_PARSER=y
# CONFIG_PKCS7_MESSAGE_PARSER=y

and when I continue to insmod brcmfac, the Dongle failed, it looks like fw wrong, the fw I used is cyfmac54591-pcie.bin in the packet you give.

Hi @randy

Thank you for the NVRAM, I am going through the logs in detail meanwhile could you please let me which host evk and the module evk part number that you are using for testing?

Hi @randy
The NVRAM txt file usually depends on the module vendor example Murata and the type of board that is used and the NVRAM parameters are tuned based on the boards. The NVRAM that you are using is for Infineon's evk .

Could you please contact your module vendor to get the right NVRAM?

After you use the vendor NVRAM you could enable all debug logs while loading the driver and share the complete output from the bootup.
example insmod brcmfmac.ko debug=0xffffff

Hi @Vivek_gunapati :

I used my own evb board but not murata or infineon's evk, is this module only can be used in specific evk board? We only purchase murata's wifi/bt module without any other evk

Hi @randy Could you please verify or review your custom board with Murata? and check if the NVRAM parameters need to be modified example internal LPO or external LPO etc.

Hi @randy Can you please open a new thread for the Bluetooth questions? This will help us to support the issue better.   And for the Wi-Fi bring up could we close this issue now? once you have all the info from the vendor, based on your testing you could create a new thread if required.

Regards
Vivek.
