Hi Infineon Dev/support,

We would like to report an issue encountered while undergoing the Wifi Certification (April 2023) for the Laird Sterling LWB5+. This wifi+bluetooth product incorporates a CYW4373E chipset which happens to be produced by Infineon. We are hoping you can help us.

Specifically the issue relates to CYW4373E not including the expected RSNX octet together with the Association request. This happens only when the AP's beacon broadcast includes more than 1 octet in its RSNX capabilities. - This is the issue.

If the AP's beacon broadcast for RSNX includes just 1 octet (), CYW4373E (Laird wifi dongle) is including the RSNX - This is OK (screenshot below)

Additional Information:

Chipset: CYW4373E

Wifi driver: cypress-backports-v5.15.58-2023_0222-module-src.tar

Firmware: based from Laird's release which should include Infineon's firmware (as of Oct 8, 2022): https://github.com/LairdCP/Sterling-LWB-and-LWB5-Release-Packages/releases/download/LRD-REL-10.54.0....

Supplicant - patched with the Laird patchset Dec 2022 v10.54.0.13

Wifi Certification test cases that failed (3 test cases):

- CT_Security_RSN_STA_CapabilitiesVerification-ReservedBits-31_10603_1

- CT_Security_RSN_STA_CapabilitiesVerification-ReservedBits-SAE-PK_10604_1

- CT_Security_RSN_STA_CapabilitiesVerification-ReservedBits-Extra_10605_1

As requested, attaching a zip file of the sniffer capture: Laird_CYW4373_Missing_RSNXE_in_Assoc.zip

STA: Laird c0:ee:40:82:79:12

AP: Atheros 0:03:7f:12:f6:30

A screenshot of AP RSNXE settings is also uploaded: RSNXE_AP_Settings.png

Hoping for your feedback regarding the RSNX support and if there's any fix/updates available!

Thanks,

Owen

Hi @ochan ,

Thanks you for the detailed explanation, From the shared package i see that you are using the firmware "13.10.246.269 "
The latest firmware "13.10.246.300" -> https://community.infineon.com/t5/Wi-Fi-Bluetooth-for-Linux/Cypress-Linux-WiFi-Driver-Release-FMAC-2...  has some fixes with respect to the above test conditions,

Could you please let us know if the issue still persists with the latest firmware?
Please note that Liard might have to merge the firmware with NVRAM and share the merged binary for you to test with 4373-USB.

Regards
Vivek.

Thank you Vivek for the quick response.

We are reaching out now to Laird for the merged firmware to include Infineon's 13.10.246.300 firmware. Will share with you the Wifi Certification test result on RSNXE once available.

Thanks!

Owen

Hi @ochan , Any update on the test results? Did the 13.10.246.300 fix the issue?

Hi Vivek,

Sorry for the latet reply. The release 13.10.246.300 did fixed the issue! Now we can see the RSNXE in the response (it contains the 1 octet with the H2E and TWT capabilities info). Again, thank you for the support!

Best regards,

Owen
