Hello Infineon.
Q1)
If SUSPEND and WAKEUP pin are not used(These pins do not connect to the host), could you please let us know the recommended connection method for these pins?
(Open?, pull-up?, pull-down?, Connect directly to GND or VDDD? etc)
Is SUSPEND pin OK to leave it open because this pin is output?
Does the recommended connection method for these pins change depending on the Internal Flash Configuration setting(Enabled, Disabled, Polarity etc)?
Q2)
Serial Communication Block Configuration is used as Mode 0(default setting) of Table 14 at DS.
In this case, could you please let us know the recommended connection method when DSR#, RTS#, CTS# and DTR# are not used?
(Only RxD and TxD pin are used. And use as Mode 0(default setting) without changing to Mode 2 from default setting.)
Best Regards.

Hi Yuma,
Answer (1)
when enabling remote wakeup, based on your configuration, you have to connect the suspend pin to High and low (3.3V or GND).
Answer 2:
this pins are using for HW flow control , if you are using mode 0 configuration then please connect this pin for batter performance .
yes when you are using mode 0 pins work as uart not GPIO.
Answer 3:
Yes when you are not using any functionality you can use that pin as GPIO or let it open.
Thank You

Hi Yama,
Answer (1)
you can left open the Suspend and wakeup Pin if you are not using it. you have to disable using USB serial configuration utility tool.
Answer(2)
Download SDK from Below Path:https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/evaluation-boards/cyusbs232/
once downloading SDK you will get reference schematics at below path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\CYUSBS234 DVK\1.0\hardware
while using UART 2 Pin Uart Protocol you can left open or use as GPIO based on your requirement.
for more information on schematic or designing follow below KBA for reference:

About your answer(1).
>>> you have to disable using USB serial configuration utility tool.
Is the feature you are referring to “Remote wakeup” parameter in the datasheet(Table 2)?
If this feature remains enabled(use the default settings for Internal Flash Configuration in Table 2), what should be the recommended connection handling for Suspend and wakeup pin?
(SUSPEND and WAKEUP pin are not used. / These pins do not connect to the host.)
In this case as well, is it OK to leave Suspend and Wakeup pin Open?
I would like to know if the Internal Flash Configuration setting changes the recommended connection method of Suspend and Wakeup pin.
//////////////////////////////////////////
About your answer(2).
>>> while using UART 2 Pin Uart Protocol you can left open or use as GPIO based on your requirement.
Is it correct to understand that all unused DSR#, RTS#, CTS# and DTR# can be open connections?
Best Regards.

Hi Yuma San,
Answer(1)
suspend/Wakeup Pin is mainly used to Wakeup the Host from a selective suspend Suspend state.
yes as per USB serial configuration Utility you can enable or disable Selective suspend/wakeup for you host.
if you are not using this you can left open this pins.
(answer 2):
while you are using 2 pin UART the other Pins you can see in GPIO Section, you can select Input/output/ and tristate based on requirements.
from your application you can change read or set the value of GPIO using CyGetGpioValue() and CySetGpioValue().
Thank You

Varun Narolkar-san.
Thank you for your response.
Q1)
>>>if you are not using this you can left open this pins.
Even if Remote wakeup setting is “Enabled”(default setting), is it possible to open both SUSPEND and WAKEUP pin?
Q2)
If IC mode is “Mode 0” of below table(default setting), is it possible to open DSR#(Pin 20), RTS#(Pin 21), CTS#(Pin 22) and DTR#(Pin 2)?
These pins work as UART, not GPIO.
Is it possible to open these UART pins(other than TX/RX)?
Q3)
When disabling pin's function(UART, GPIO, CapSense, SUSPEND/WAKEUP etc), the pin can be left open.
Is my understanding correct?
Best Regards.
