USB hosts hubs transceivers Forum Discussions
It is connecting HS device as Upstream. And it is necessary to confirm the HS Host in the USB signal quality test(e.g. Proper Eye Measurement) . Is it necessary to make any settings on the HX2LP for signal quality?
Is there anything else I should do other than putting the Host in test packet mode?
The HX2VL has a TEST pin. Not in HX2LP.
Thanks,
Tetsuo
Hello! I developed a USB 3.0 HUB based from the CY4609 RDK Board. The first two runs of the boards worked well but the latest are dropping data sporadically on different down stream ports when tested as a USB 3.0 Hub. I use Passmarks USB3 test plug to loop data through the HUB to make sure all is working well but a majority are having difficulties with failures during Bench Mark and Loop testing. They fail at different points or will pass one time and fail the next. It is really hard to try to half split to see what is going on. I have some built on PCBs from the previous order and some that were built on this order. Since the PCBs worked last time I don't think its a PCB issue so it must either be a component or manufacturing issue but with nearly every board failing I am at a loss.
Show LessIf the upstream of HX2LP is HS and the downstream is connecting HS, FS, LS USB devices, are there any specification restrictions?
Are there any restrictions (differences) in the specifications when communicating with FS and LS at the same time and when communicating alternately after a certain period of time?
In the current application, the upstream is FS, so there is no problem with SingleTT.
In a new application, upstream will be HS, so I would like to confirm if there are any specification restrictions.
Thanks,
Tetsuo
Hello,
If 3.3V is applied to D+ (or D-) without supplying power to VCC (VCC_D/VCC_A), will the device be damaged?
Please tell me about the downstream and upstream ports respectively.

Show LessDear Sir/Madam,
I have a custom board with CYUSB4347 (A silicon) on board.
Firmware update always failed.
End up found a way to complete update firmware by consecutive press the 'update' button without power cycle & USB cable detach on custom board after process complete with log file generated.
From log files, found there are different procedures between 1st & 2nd update, so I make an experience with a consecutive update firmware in 3 times.
Attach 3 log files in zip for analysis with the below questions.
Q1: From 1st log (dock_update_15_09_16_18.txt). Any hints to resolve the 'Unknow error: Did not get device removal notification'?
Q2: Compare 1st log (dock_update_19_09_16_18.txt) & 2nd log (dock_update_15_09_16_22.txt). Found there are missing Image#2 writing on 2nd update with complete status? Is it image#2 writing issue on 1st update?
Q3: Compare 2nd log (dock_update_15_09_16_22.txt) & 3rd log (dock_update_15_09_16_25.txt). The number of Images writing is the same (both skipping image#2), but the 3rd result becomes 'Complete Partially'. Is image#2 writing require? How to write it back?
Q4: From those log files, appear with 'Length mismatch in received message', will it affect the firmware update?
Below working environment & Firmware version.
EZ-USB HX3PD Configuration Utility (Version 1.0 Build 23) on Windows 10.
Firmware CYUSB4347-BZXC_FW_1_3_0.bin download from https://www.cypress.com/documentation/software-and-drivers/ez-usb-hx3pd-firmware

Show LessI asked the following questions in the past.
https://community.cypress.com/t5/USB-Hosts-Hubs-Transceivers/HX2VL-power-drops-while-OS-boots/m-p/269230#M2139
I would like to eliminate this behavior of turning off VBUS.
The 11.11 Hub Port Power Control in the USB 2.0 standard has the following description.
If it does not implement Power Switch on your self-powered hub, Hub must implement the PortPwrCtrlMask implementation and the wHubCharacteristics Logical Power Switching Mode field for compatibility with previous versions.
The current circuit connects the Switch IC of VBUS and the PWR # signal of CY7C65632. My understanding is that if this feature is implemented, the CY7C65632 will not turn off VBUS by the PWR # signal even if it receives a SetPortFeature (PORT_POWER) request from the host. Is it correct?
Could you please tell me how to implement this feature in CY7C65632.
Thanks,
Tetsuo
Hello Team Cypress,
My team and I are looking in order either to find a helper IC or to replace an USB interface IC that goes into Voice recorder project with USB Hub from one of our clients' design.
Is there a particular Cypress MCU or USB interface IC that comes with the following features in the description?
Current USB hub design from the client is with Microchip USB2422/MJ USB interface IC + physical switch.
USB2422 Data Sheet (microchip.com)
The physical switch is installed to make selections on connected the devices on the hub, in order to make only the selected device to be updated with firmware. In the next design, the design team wishes to drop the physical switch from the design, and use USB interface IC comes with the logical or software switch feature to make the selection and help the update.
For the next design, after Cypress USB interface IC from the USB hub reads the device host data and by recognizing the the device's usb data bus, the Cypress USB interface IC automatically can identify the connected device and enables either the Data or the Power line connection to the device. When the connection is established, if there is the software command to update on only the certain device to port firmware update, the firmware would only be written to the selected device.
Is there a Cypress MCU or USB interface IC that can help the software device selection feature?
Or is there a Cypress USB interface IC that comes with such selection feature?
Target device is for the running project that is under mass production, but for the next design, the client's design team wishes either to replace or to add the the Cypress USB interface IC or MCU model if the described feature is available.
If you can find the suitable Cypress model that has the features, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you always.
Sincerely,
Ben.
Hello
They have already created a board with CY7C65632-48AXCT and is using it as a DS4 port product.
However, they are thinking of using the same board and replacing it with CY7C65634-48AXCT instead of CY7C65632-48AXCT.
Therefore, since CY7C65634-48AXCT is a DS2 port product, it is used as a DS2 port product.
Q1) Is it possible to use CY7C65634-48AXCT as upward compatibility of CY7C65632-48AXCT?

Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to develop a small board using a 2-ports HUB CY7C65634-48AXC.
At the moment there are no downstream devices connected to the HUB ports, i'm just focusing on getting the HUB device itself up and running.
As a clock source I'm using a programmable oscillator set to 12 Mhz; clock source selection inputs of the Hub IC (SEL48/ SEL27) are connected according to the datasheet specs (both input pulled up to logic "1").
What I see is the following: when I try to plug the board into a windows PC, the device is not enumerated and recognized:
"The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
If I look at the board with a scope:
- Power rails are OK;
- When I plug USB into the PC, some transactions are visible on D+/ D- USB lines for about 2/3 seconds;
- Something strange happens on the CLK line: after 2/ 3 seconds from the startup, the signal amplitude gets lowered (around 2.8 V instead of 3.3 V); also, if I check the XOUT pin on the Hub IC, I can see a 12 MHz signal at the very beginning, but with a "slow" rising slope, then the signal get become a continuos 3.3 V.
Do you have any hint on what I can check in order to isolate the issue? I've already double checked the schematic and everything seems fine and according to the Datasheet requirements.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Fabio
Show LessHello All ,
I am from AIDEN MEDICAL PRIVATE LIMITED,
We are initial stage of designing an interface USB HUB four channel CY7C65630-56LTXI with STM32H757 micro controller ,
We are using FREE RTOS ,
HOST MICROCONTROLLER - STM32H757 (ST MICRO)
HUB FOUR CHANNEL - CY7C65630-56LTXI (CYPRESS)
My question is - whether CY7C65630-56LTXI - will work with FREE RTOS ( STM32H757 MICROCONTROLLER )?
Do you have implementation guide for this?
