Hello,
I would like to ask a simple question regarding to CYUSB3314. We would like to use the downstream ports (all of them DS1-DS4 ports) as USB 2.0.
Does the chip work faster if the upstream port configured as USB 3.0 ?
In this case should we rather use the not Shared Link version CYUSB2304(only USB 2.0)? There is any difference between this 2 ways?
Kindly regards,
Adam

Hello Adam,
If you set all the downstream ports to work as USB 2.0, the devices will enumerate under the USB 2.0 Hub and hence the upstream would work in high speed as well even if you keep it capable of superspeed.
There is no difference in the only 2.0 version of HX3 in terms of features and its mainly that the USB 3.0 PHY is not used. So if you would be using only USB 2.0 devices, you could use the CYUSB2304 instead of the CYUSB3304 part.
Best Regards,
Sananya

Dear Sananya,
Thank you for your answer. We are going to use CYUSB3314 as USB2.0 HUB and we can use it for other USB3.0 projects in the future.
Many thanks.
Kindly regards,
Adam
