Hi,

I want to start a project that aims to connect MIPI CSI-2 cameras through USB. The most direct example in your webpage is this one: https://www.cypress.com/products/ez-usb-cx3-programmable-mipi-csi-2-usb-30-camera-controller

The problem is that the development kit that is required for this application (Denebola) has shown to be really hard to source. The last update in the webpage (https://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/denebola-usb-30-uvc-reference-design-ki... is from more than 3 years ago, which made us think that this is obsolete. We investigated if with the FX3 we could do the same, but it seems that FX3 can only connect cameras using a parallel interface (https://community.infineon.com/t5/USB-Superspeed-Peripherals/Which-CX3-FX3-development-kit-will-allo... ), which is not what we want.

Is there a development kit for CX3 that is currently available? Are we missing something? Can the FX3 be used with CSI-2 cameras?

Thanks!

Hello,

FX3 cannot be used to directly interface with a MIPI based image sensor. If you need to interface a MIPI based image sensor with FX3, then you will need an FPGA between FX3 and the image sensor. The FPGA should accept the MIPI data and convert it into parallel data. After this conversion is done, FX3 can be used to stream the video data to the host.

As you mentioned, CX3 is the USB bridge controller that we have for directly interfacing a MIPI based image sensor. Denebola RDK can be used for evaluating CX3. It is not Obsolete as of now. You can purchase the kit from e-con Systems using the following link:

Thanks for your fast reply.

We have long time ago ordered that kit and it's not possible to get it in a reasonable amount of time. Do you know any places where we could source it? Maybe directly from you? Thanks!

Hello,

I understand that there is a delay from e-con systems to send a new kit. But, unfortunately there are no other suppliers for Denebola Kit. Please try following up with e-con systems to obtain the kit.
