The CY7C65211 USB-Serial chip has a place to hold a serial number.  However, though Cypress's USB-Serial Configuration Utiility shows the current serial number (if any), it doesn't seem to allow writing a new serial number.  It looks like it would be obvious and easy but it isn't working for me to enter a string of characters for programming through the Configuration Utility.  How does one write a new string into the Serial Number location of a CY7C65211?

We would like to change the PID and VID in existing boards, in customer's sites without changing their firmware (we got a different PID and VID now)
Is there any way of doing it without sending the products back to us?
I am looking for a software that will identify our boards and then program the new VID and PID.

It has to be simple - most users cannot install programmers or development environments - they do not have any technical qualifications

Is there any simple way to do that?

I'm a newbie in Cypress world. I have a custom board with FX2LP chip. I changed the VID/PID which is saved on the onboard EEPROM. After that I can't connect to the board neither can I install the Cypress driver for windows 10. When I connect the board to PC, it's recognized as Unknown Device and when I try to install the driver, it says that the driver is not compatible with the device. When I connect the board to Ubuntu it's not recognized at all.

How can I change the VID/PID to the original value? Or how can I connect to the board again?

I am working on FPGA vetrtex-5 LX50 EVALUATION BOARD, Which has CY7C68012A device and i connected the usb cable to pc and device. but in USB control centre , FX2LP device is not showing in the list. I installed CYPRESS SUIT USB 3.4.7. What is the problem?? whether it is software or any mistake in connecting. I am using this for slave FIFO mode of operation... any little help makes my work easy... i am new to cypress.

Having just discovered this post "CY7C65211 cyusbserial.dll library function CyI2cRead() length bug, errata?"​, I wonder where the errata are hidden for the CY7C6521x devices.

Despite most of the discussions having taken place behind the scenes I think it's clear that some CY7C6521x have firmware issues. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it possible to get a comprehensive, up-to-date list of known firmware errors?

A.k.a.: Where are the errata?

I can tell you that right now I'm inclined to ditch the CY7C6521x chips.

According to the EZ-USB Technical Reference Manual, the IFCLK pin can be driven at any frequency between 5MHz and 48MHz.

In my application, the IFCLK is sourced from the external clock and it works well at 40MHz in slave FIFO mode. Now the problem is : when I set the external frequency to 30MHz or lower, the data read by the FPGA will be totally wrong.

And I am sure that the external clock is present at the IFCLK pin before the IFCONFIG.7 is set.

Is there any other details about the usage of the IFCLK ?

We use CY7C64215 so many years.

But current silicon revision is D.

Have any PCN / Datasheet or other document to description the difference?

I also find on Cypress website datasheet just show errata still keep on silicon A.

We are using cypress FX3 DVK for our application and we are facing a major issue of jtag debugger and SPI communication pins.

As we noticed that the SPI lines used by JTAG (FTDI chip), the same pins are used for SPI communication. Which are connected 220 ohms of resistance.

And we have remove the resistance of 220 ohms and directly connected to the SPI lines.

Obeservation:

1. We are unable to debug the Cypress DVK using the JTAG debugger which is provided on the board itself after reaching 97% it will display error.

2.On the MOSI line (SPI) we are observing continues pulses.

I need a low budget chip that can detect if it is connected to a running notebook or tablet.

For example I have a USB hub / USB docking station where the USB ports have always power.

I need a chip that would be connected via USB with this hub and should detect if a notebook or tablet or smartphone is connected to this hub or docking station.

For example some mouse SOCs would power their LED off if the mouse can not detect a OS that supports a HID mouse. This is exactly what I need. However I want to know if cypress also have those chips that support this feature. I need a low budget chip. What could I use?
