I have a question about the sample FW( CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_one_1_0_3_516_0_0_0_nb.cyacd,CYPD3125-40LQXI.

I added 12V/3A to the default Source PDO and checked the operation, but it does not work properly. Plwase tell me the reason and workaround.

With the latest firmware 2.0.7.0 update of the EZ-PD Protocol Analyzer 4500 device, with latest CY4500 Protocol Analyzer GUI version 3.1.0 (build 31), still we are not seeing the USB4 Gen3 field decoding for the Cable VDO, instead it is displaying as RSVD3.

Do we have any latest update of the GUI/Firmware needed for the USB4 Gen3 field decoding display for Cable VDO in the Analyzer GUI?

Could the CCG3PA support an application where it acts as a power bank that supports through charging.

The CCG3PA would handle the device side port (DRP), and a CCG2 would handle a second dedicated charge port. The CCG3PA port will not need to charge the battery.

The CCG3PA would have to manage the amount of charging current diverted to the power bank battery depending on the selected PDO from the connected device, and the maximum power available from the CCG2.

The ccg3pa would need to quarry the ccg2 for selected source PDO and manage a battery charger via I2C, possibly a gpio extender as well.

Do you think the CCG3PA could fill this capability?

I see the CCG3 could fit the bill, but because of the simple functionality and current supply chain issues the ccg3pa is attractive.

I download the newly EZ-PDProtocolAnalyzerUtility_Windows software and install and only save the java 8 update 301(64-bit) into my window 7system and modify the file CY4500_EZ_PD_protocol_Analyzer_utillity.ini file, the explorer appears a exclamation point, in the protocol analyzer utility software, I may open test data, but can't capture data.

There are two "charger / power-bank" PD source designs, both using CCG3PA.
would be great with some input if there's someone here on the forum that has some insights on the power-topology for each.

ACT4751 (buck)

Both can basically do the same thing, while ACT4751/ACT4752 provides higher switching frequencies, they are also controlled via I2C, compared to ACT5101 that directly controls the switching note of the boost.

- What would be the pros and cons of the direct-feedback solution vs the higher level i2c voltage control?

- In the first design, I'm not sure why a boost is needed unless you want to run on 5V VBUS, still being able to provide a higher PDO.

Would be great with some input on these two designs.

             We purchased CYUSBS234 EVK (On-board USB to I2C bridge chip CY7C65211), and downloaded the firmware of CYPD4226-40LQXI chip through this bridge chip and EZ-PD Configuration Utility software. But now the software still can't find the chip, and ‘No HID/USB-Serial Bridge devices’ have not been found.

        The mode for CYUSBS234 EVK has been set to I2C, and has tested pass with USBSerialTestUtility. Figure 1 below is the test environment, Figure 2 is the EZ-PD Configuration Utility software phenomenon.

        Is there anything else to configure or check?

Hello My team and I are looking for Automotive quality USB charging Controller IC among Cypress products
for a replacement opportunity.

Our customer currently uses RICHTEK Technology's RTQ2116-QA, single charging controller chip
comes with Buck boost converter (datasheet : https://www.richtek.com/assets/product_file/RTQ2116C-QA/DSQ2116C-QA-00.pdf ) for 15+ Watt USB charger project.

The part we are looking for shall

-have automotive quality.
-have single chip solution
-be put into use for 15+ W USB-C charger project.
-be replacing Richtek RTQ2116-QA with Buck boost converter.
-have relatively good time for the logistics

May I ask if any of Cypress part for the replacement for RICHTEK RTQ2116-QA?
If you could, that would be greatly appreciated.

we want to change PDOs dynamically at runtime in our project via the HPI interface to get the best fitted power negotiation between sink and source. I think this should be possible, but I did not find any code examples or a detailed description of the HPOI interface.

Here my questions:

1. Is it possible to change PDOs dynamically at runtime?

2. Are there any existing code examples for this purpose?

3. Is there a more detailed HPI interface description?

We are planning to use EZ-PD CCG5 dual port PD controller in our product but have some questions and concern related to power consumption of the IC. In order to reserve battery power, we plan to keep PD controller in deep sleep mode when it is not active. 

Questions I have are:

1) what resources are available during deep sleep mode?

2) What are the ways to wake up the controller from deep sleep mode?

Can you guide me to the specific document that contain more details on deep sleep mode?
