USB EZ-PD™ Type-C Forum Discussions
Hello.
I'd like to know what devices I need to test the charger that supports Power Delivery 3.1.
Traditional power delivery 3.0 tests used CY4500EZ-PD to test the charger.
However, CY4500EZ-PD cannot confirm Power Delivery 3.1, so I would like to find a new way.
Please tell me how I can check and test PD3.1.
I am currently purchasing CY7113EZ-PD™PMG1-S3 Prototyping Kit.
I would appreciate it if you could share the relevant test information.
Thank You.

What reason the PMG1-S3 have four CC pins each port?
ex:
CC1_PI has two pins : J1 and J2 , ( reference schematic , the J1 and J2 are short together )
CC2_P1 has two pins : N1 and N2 ( reference schematic , the N1 and N2 are short together )

Hello.
We are designing a USB device that connects to a commercial tablet device.
The specifications are as follows:
[Power supply]
The power is supplied from the AC adapter (DC 5V), and is also supplied to the tablet device via USB Type-C (5V/1.5A).
> My design device is the power source, and the tablet device on the market is the power sink.
[Communication]
The tablet device is the host (DFP), and my design device is the device (UFP).
Do not need USB 3.x, I need USB2.0 communication.
The image is USB docking station.
In the past, we used USB OTG ACA, but now I use Type-C, which requires a PD Controller, so we focused on CCG5.
My question, can I do the above by using CCG5?
And, I want to know if there are other suitable products.
Thank you.
Show LessHi,
Is there a sample project/source code example for a USB-C PD source application? Currently, it seems ModusToolBox only have a sink example. If a source project is not available yet, do you have a target date of release?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Cypress
We need CYPD3176 HPI (Host Processor Interface) Specification for PPS control , Can you provide datasheet or examples it (How to use the communications protocol set for PPS function) , Thank !!
Show LessDear Cypress Engineer
I have a few questions for you about CCG2(EZ-PD™ CCG2 USB Type-C Monitor/Dock Solution (cypress.com)). The reason is that we are now doing the NVIDIA Jetson Nano NX Board. We need type-C to integrate DP Alt Mode functionality. So we found your solution for CCG2.
I have a few questions about your solution. First, usb billboard in this scheme is necessary if I don't use billboard Device in our PC. Secondly, your plan uses two chips, CYPD2121 and CYPD2125, which act on CC control of Upstream and Dowmstream respectively. Secondly, your plan uses two chips, CYPD2121 and CYPD2125, which act on CC control of upstream and Dowmstream respectively. But I only found CYPD2122 on your official website, is it the same function as theirs? I want to use it as Dowmstream. Third, do we need to write any necessary programs for this solution? Third, do we need to write any necessary programs for this solution? Or it can be used once the hardware circuits are properly built.
Thank you very much for being here, and I hope you can answer my questionsion.

I got CCG2 passive cable fw that contains two FW caycad.
one is main.cyacd, another is Failsafe.cyacd.
May i know what different between both of FWs?
if fw running in failsafe mode, are there any functional limitations?
Show LessHi Sirs,
Why HPI do not have example code could be shared?
If there are sample code , the development time can be shortened.
Will there be a chance to be open?
Thank you.

Hi!
We are looking at a customer case where power supply for a USB-C PD 5A charger is 48VDC. Since it is hard (impossible) to find DC/DC-controllers optimized for USB-C with 48VDC we considered using a flyback solution instead.
Is it possible to use PAG1-solution with 48VDC input? We would of course not need the rectifier, but more or less keep the rest. Any other main things to consider if we were to base it on the 65W CoolGaN ref design?
/Olof
