USB EZ-PD™ Type-C Forum Discussions
Hello, I see that a lot of signals go to the j18 connector that I've removed from my design but can't completely figure out if any of this connection need to be jumped to achieve proper functionality.
I'm really worried about the CCG4_12C_int_DMC and i2C_IN_INT nets in the reference design but could someone help me better understand how to best make sure that J18 being removed won't completely mess up the design.
I understand that I need the I2C between the CCG4 and the DMC but think that most of the connection on the J18 connector is not used as there appears to be another I2C bus already. Can someone confirm this assumption?
Thank you so much!
Nicholas
Show LessHi All.
There is the following problem:
CCG3PA has a built-in ADC and the datasheet informs "This ADC can be accessed from all GPIOs and the DP/DM pins through an on-chip analog mux".
But in the PSoC creator there is no ADC component to use to read the analog input.
Please help me, how can I read the analog input in the application code without the ADC component.
Show LessHi,
We are using USB PD controller CCG2 (MPN: CYPD2122-24LQXIT) in our design.
This controller does not contain integrated USB Mux/Demux switch for USB 3.0 signals. We are using external USB 3.1 Port 2:! Mux/Demux switch.
Is there USB PD controller with integrated mux/demux switch?
Thanks & Regards,
Sunny Watts
Show LessIs there a best practices guideline for how I should add custom code while using the SDK to ensure that nothing, or as little as possible breaks when I do an update to a new SDK?
Aside from release notes does Cypress provide any other guidance on how best to update to a new SDK to limit the impact to custom code?
Show LessMy project is based on the CYPD3123 CTD reference design, However we are not implemented the DS type C connector instead we are powered off of a DC source. It is more of a docking station design. I have updated the Configuration of the 3123 via the configuration tool for it to be source default role, with 5V3A PDO, and the first connection looks correct to me, however the second and every one after is not. After the first connection the Source Cap is no long advertised as 5V3A, it is changed to 5V1.2A. I've attached a capture from the EZ-PD analyzer for reference. Is this a by product of not being able to communicate with the 2122 device? Is there ayway to correct this without making this a software project?
Show LessHi Lisa,
As you recommended, I changed the SYS_DEEPSLEEP_ENABLE as 0
#define SYS_DEEPSLEEP_ENABLE (0u)
but the cypress board still VBUS keep crashing to 0.
I'll attach the image.
Magenta is vbus, green is cc2 and light green is cc1 which dose pd communication.
Please take a look at this issue.
Thanks
Show LessI understand it SBU1/2 pins are generally use for Alternate modes as a use for lower speed control and communication signals. What would need to be done by a customer to turn these pins into a general UART interface?
Would they need to define and assign their own alternate mode? If they were in control of both sides (PC control App and end device) I would assume they could send over the Alt mode capabilities, and understand that the channel is meant for UART communication correct?
Show LessDear all,
I am using the CYPD3174-24LQXQ in a high density AC/DC 65W power adapter as a PD controller with optocoupler feedback.. I attach the schematic.
The current shunt is 5mohm.
I am experiencing issues with the output voltage change only at light load conditions below 500mA load current. In the attached scope picture I have the output voltage going from 5V to 20V which was requested. After that the PD load requests 5V output, the converter changes the output to 5V, all normal so far. After this the PD load is requesting a 12V voltage, the converter goes to 12V, stays at 12V for around 200ms , goes to zero(P channels turned off). This happens two more times, after this , I guess the PD controller needs to be reset to work again.
I am only experiencing this below 500mA load current. At 3A load this issue is not present. I have tried everything I could think of to solve this issue but could not find a solution?
Is this issue known to Cypress PD controller? Is there any fix for this?
Thank you in advance

Show LessHi,
I'm using CY4531 EZ-PD CCG3 EVK. The original firmware is in the installed directory, CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_one_1_0_3_516_0_0_0_nb.cyacd
Without the changing original firmware in the EVK, I've tested PD transaction with other boards and I found out this evaluation kit's PD revision is 2.0 not 3.0.
I've requested for the technical supports, and they says CY4531's default is PD revision 3.0. But it's not, it's working as PD revision 2.0
I want to change the working version as 3.0.
For that, I'd like to be guided to get a new firmware for this EVK which is working as PD revision3.0
Would you send me the link or newest firmware?
Thanks,
Yeonok
