USB EZ-PD™ Type-C Forum Discussions
Hi,
USB-PD Thema. What is responsible for generating different voltages at VBUS? Is it not the CCGX chip, right? If a UFP needs 20V and negotiates with CCGX chip, then how is 20V at VBUS generated? How does CCGx chip "says" to power system that "please make 20V at VBUS"?
I hope you understand the question.
Show LessHello,
Is there an SDK for CY4500 EZPD but for the MicroB port? We would like to develop our own application for packet capture instead of EZ PD capture utility. Is this supported presently?

Hi,
In continuation to my previous thread "Unable to charge a dead battery tablet"
How can i force charge a device (say with 5V 1Amp) by CCG3 PD and not get a Yellow warning icon.
Show LessHello
Q1) CMG1 has a built-in 40-byte storage area for configuration. Ibut s this flash?
Q2) Also, it is considered that the memory area other than the above 40 bytes storage area does not exist in CMG1. Is it correct?
Best regards

Show LessHello. Happy New Year to all.
Is the CMG1 component TID certified? PD3.0 compliant? Stable without any erratas? In production?
Our company is interested to source (offshore) a USB 3.1 Gen 2 TID Certified cable with PD 3.0 compliance (20V @ 5A). Our first preference is to have the Cypress CMG1 E-marker inside this cable. However during my visit to Asia last April, very few cable manufacturers referenced the Cypress E-marker, perhaps due to cost savings to use alternate devices.
May we receive details of offshore cable manufacturers that make use of or are able to use the CMG1 E-marker? We do not wish to invest into the tooling and TID testing of such a cable so prefer to work with a tooled up shop.
Welcome your feedback and suggestions on alternatives from Cypress if the CMG1 is not ready for production use. Ok to contact me via private email if that is more suitable.
Many thanks!
Show LessWe are in need of a simple single voltage PPS request for CYPD3171 SDK 3.3 , our customer has an 11V requirement on his device and the power adapter that he will be using is USB PD certified and yes it has 3.3 - 21.5V PD 3 and PPS 3A capability
we need a simple solution he could load into his 3171 based SINK project to output 11V at 3A
Show LessDear,
I made a dock and used the CYPD4236-40LQXI_dock sample code.
Connect to a host, CC can't communicate, fail rate is about 60%.
But on other hosts, no communication has ever failed.
(1) How can I prove that this is a hosting issue?
(2) How to prove CYPD4236-40LQXI internal CC PD Pull low?

Show LessWe're working on a small project in which we'd like to implement a UFP into our power system and was hoping to get some guidance before heading too far down the rabbit hole.
First, a few product requirements:
- Will only be used for UFP sink operation
- Powered from VBus under dead-battery conditions
- Legacy detection/negotiation, BC 1.2 as a minimum
- i2c multi-master to interface with other aspects of our power system independent of external MCU support (setting current limits of charge controllers)
- Minimize package size / external components
- Ability to control a USB switch (D+/D-) in order to pass through data further downstream for use after negotiation is complete (internal would be even more awesome, but I'm not seeing any that have pass-through)
From these requirements and referencing this product table, it seems something in the CCG3 or CCG3PA family would be an ideal low-cost solution.
The CCG3 family seems to be the more common choice (based on current distributor availability), and I think any of the following part numbers should be able to meet our needs. We will be customizing the firmware, so the default FW is fairly inconsequential, I think.
While the CCG3PA family appears to target primarily at DFP applications, I do see the CYPD3171 has the termination resistors required to operate as a DRP/UFP, with the added benefit of a smaller package size over the CCG3 options (24QFN vs 40QFN).
Are there any aspects I might be missing or have incorrectly assumed here? Is there perhaps another family more closely suited that I should be considering? And would both the CY4532 EZ-PD CCG3PA Evaluation Kit or CY4531 EZ-PD CCG3 Evaluation Kit fit my needs as described for development?
Thanks for any input you might be able to provide!
