What is the process to revert a CY4500 USB-C Analyzer back to its original firmware, 1.0 that supports USB-C PD 2.0?
Only the original firmware, version 1.0 is compatible and with the original EZ-PD Analyzer Utility (No "Protocol" in the title of the original Utility).
Instructions to convert a CY4500
- FROM version 1.0 for USB-C PD 2.0 supported by EZ-PD Analyzer Utility
- TO version 3.10 for USB-C PD 3.0 supported by EZ-PD Protocol Analyzer Utility
are fairly straight forward. Is there any way to revert back to version 1.0 ?
After updating, I noticed more information is captured using the PD 3.0 compatible firmware. However, I'd like to attempt to recreate captures I'd make using the PD 2.0 compatible firmware. Alternatively, Is there a mode with the PD 3.0 firmware version 3.10 to create a capture similar to the PD 2.0 code?

Hi,
Yes, your understanding is correct. Please use the attached package from my previous response and load the firmware. Since it is for PD2.0, it has to detect the fw.

Abhilash,
Please provide firmware in the form of a .cyacd file for CY4500 that supports EZ-PD Analyzer Utility (PD 2.0).
The EZ-PD Analyzer Utility (PD 2.0) no longer recognizes my CY4500 after I updated it to support PD 3.0.
The EZ-PD Protocol Analyzer Utility (PD 3.0) only offers an option to update a CY4500 to 3.1.0 using CY4500_EZ-PD_ProtocolAnalyzer_FW_2_0_7_0.cyacd. I want to revert back to 1.0 to be compatible with EZ-PD Analyzer Utility (PD 2.0).
Instructions in the EZ-PD Protocol Analyzer User Guide Section section 2.5 step 2 could be used to load previous firmware if that firmware was available:
Section 2.5 Step 2. Update the CY4500 EZ-PD Protocol Analyzer firmware:
a. Click Load File… and select the CY4500 firmware file in .cyacd format as shown in Figure 37. Click Open.
The binary file provided with the utility is available at the following location <Install Directory>\EZ-PD
Protocol Analyzer Utility\Firmware_Update_Tool.
Please provide firmware in the form of a .cyacd file for CY4500 that supports EZ-PD Analyzer Utility (PD 2.0).

Hi,
Please try installing the Analyzer utility that I shared in my previous response.
It supports PD2.0.

Abhilash,
The file you sent is for the PD 2.0 version of the GUI that runs on the PC. That software does NOT recognize a CY4500 that has been updated with PD 3.0 firmware.
Here's an image of the PD 2.0 GUI on top and the PD 3.0 GUI on bottom. Note in the bottom left corner of each, with a CY4500 programmed with PD 3.0 firmware (CY4500_EZ-PD_ProtocolAnalyzer_FW_2_0_7_0.cyacd) ONLY the PD 3.0 GUI recognizes the CY4500.
I attempted to load PD 2.0 firmware that I found onto the CY4500. The tool (EZPD_Firmware_Update_Tool.exe) provided with the PD 3.0 GUI (EZ-PD Protocol Analyzer Utility) to update from PD 2.0 to PD 3.0 firmware does NOT support reversion back to PD 2.0 firmware. I.E. Attempting to load CY4500_EZ-PD_ProtocolAnalyzer_FW_1_0_0_32.cyacd onto a CY4500 using EZPD_Firmware_Update_Tool.exe fails.
If there is a proven method to load FW 1.0.0.32 onto a CY4500, I would appreciate knowing that correct process.
