We would like re-start the project to read TYPE-C cable E-marker IC VDM data, we would start develop FW on CY4532 power board(It is CYPD4126-40LQXI), the on handed CY4532 power board is REV07, what is the FW project for CY4532 power board? Is CYPD4126-40LQXI_notebook on EZ-PD CCGx SDK? or CYPD4126-40LQXI_notebook on EZ-PD CCGx Host SDK? We do not need Cypress HPI function, it is not fit for our application, we will define our own HPI spec. Please kindle reply my question.

Hi,

VBUS_MON pin should keep monitoring the voltage on VBUS of Type-C port. So you should connect it to TYPE-C connector VBUS pin with the divide circuit.

Eddie

Hi,

You can use either one of them, since CCG4 in CY4532 keeps most of its pin floating.

Does CY4532 power board SC8802 buck-boost circuit able to output 20V 5A(100W) through J13 type-C receptacle?

Hi,

The recommended power level of SC8802 is 60W. For CY4532, the power adapter only supports 12V/4.2A (50W). So the maximun power output of J10 in main board should be below 50W. J13 in power board do not have Power Delivery feature.

Thanks, Eddie:

I checked CY4532 power board schematic, J13 in power board only support 5V form U4, TPS63060DSCR Buck-Boost Converter, I plan to modify this circuit with On Semi NCP81239 Buck-Boost controller which is reference to CCG2 60W Car Charger Reference Design but will improve power inductance, power MOSFET and filter capacitor

to support J13 TYPE-C receptacle to output 0~20V, 5A(100W) capability, What are the things I should pay attention to, especially firmware? Please kindle reply to me, thanks.

Hi,

Are you trying to do a 100W Power Adapter with CCG4 or CCG3PA?

It is not AC to DC power adapter. the architecture like car charger, it is DC to DC converter, the VIN is 12V come from PC ATX power supply, output need adjust from 0~20V, maximum 5A, we would like design on CYPD4126-40LQXI.

Hi,

The target product of CCG4 are usually notebooks and desktops. CCG3PA are more widely used in car chargers and power adapers. And you can find more similar reference design based on CCG3PA. If you want to do 100W car charger with CCG3PA, we already have existing solution. You can contact our sales team.

The maximun output power do not depends on the PD controller you choose, it depends on the buck-boost.

I am working on modify CY4532 power board schematic power, the CYPD4126-40LQXI, pin 13 is connect to R29 and R30, it come from BL_VBUS, BL_VBUS come from U4(TPS63060DSCR), it is fix 5V to J13 TYPE-C receptacle, as I mention before I am modifying U4(TPS63060DSCR) circuit to On Semi NCP81239 Buck-Boost controller to support J13 TYPE-C receptacle to output 0~20V, 5A(100W) capability, because I am only hardware engineer, firmware engineer is busy on other portion, I am not sure firmware behavior of CYPD4126-40LQXI, pin 13(VBUS_MON_P1), so pin13 should be fix connect to R29 and R30 divide from 5V or should connect to TYPE-C connector VBUS pin in 0~20V range and divide by R29 and R30. Please Cypress help to answer my question, thanks a lot.
