Hi,

If I have a firmware that works for the PMG1-S1, will it also work for the more capable PMG1-S2?

If yes, what's the best way to port the firmware code from S1 to the S2?

Lastly, is it possible to load the firmware into PMG1-S1/S2 via the CC interface (like the CCG3PA)? I couldn't find more info from the PMG1 datasheet besides the SWD interface.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi,

Yes you can port the code developed for S1 on to S2. Please refer to this KBA - https://community.infineon.com/t5/Knowledge-Base-Articles/Port-applications-across-EZ-PD-PMG1-MCUs-K...

Currently there is no CC bootloader developed for PMG1 devices. therefore the firmware cannot be updated using CC interface.

Best regards,
Pranava

Hi Pranava,

Thanks for your reply. Are there currently any plans for Infineon to release a CC bootloader for PMG1-S1/S2? If so, what is the targeted release date?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan!

CC bootloader for PMG1 is internally in the pipeline but there is no targeted release date yet. May I know what your application is and why do you prefer to have CC bootloader?

Hi Pranava,

We have a specialized charger application and work with many phones. Even though all these phones run on Android, they don't necessarily have the same PD behavior. In the past, we needed to make firmware updates (for CCG3PA) to accommodate the differences, which is only possible via a CC bootloader after they are manufactured as the SWD interface is no longer exposed at that point in time. Please pass on this comment to your designers/planners as we would really benefit from having a CC bootloader for PMG1.

Thanks,
Jonathan
