The main advantage of a P-Channel MOSFET is its simple gate driver circuitry.
However, in the past, the P-Channel's larger area to compensate for the higher RDS(on) was a blocking point for its use: to replace an N-Channel MOSFET, a 2 to 3 times larger P-Channel MOSFET was needed.
With today's technologies, it is possible to shrink the P-FET, contributing also to the decrease in price.
