First question asked
hello,
in my gas cooking electronic project we first used AUIPS7221 for gas solenoid valves, but we had systematic breakage problems with the sparks caused to ignite the gas. a lot of testing was done and we decided to use the BTS4175SGA instead.
the component is powered at 48V stable and has esd protection.
The problem was ruptures caused by overvoltages induced by sparks caused externally by ignition of kitchen gas.
we have thought, however, to protect both the inputs and the power supply during this process with beads and capacitors as well as with capacitors since the pulses are of the order of 200nsec and with tvs.
do you think this solves the problem?

Hello Andrea,
Thank you for posting on Infineon Community.

The use of capacitors is a way of protection against overvoltage but is not practical. To clamp the damaging overvoltage spikes, that is, to deflect them to ground potential, thereby protecting the circuit, you can use  Transient Voltage Suppressor(TVS) diodes or Gas Discharge Tubes(GDTs) or Electrostatic Discharge Diodes(ESDs). They are generally designed and built to reasonable tolerances.
However, BTS4175SGA is itself has an ESD protection feature.  Can you please let us know much overvoltage level you are experiencing?

Thanks and Regards,
Anshika
