Smart Bluetooth Forum Discussions
Hi,
We are very interested in using BLE in our new product, and particularly your modules. However, as our comms link will carry very sensitive data we are concerned about the lack of Ellipitical curve cryptography during the pairing process. Therefore my question is, is it feasible to implement RSA for authentication at this stage, to effectively replicate the old more secure classic Bluetooth atandard, or does the existing BLE stack restrict you from manipulating the data passed during pairing etc?
Thanks in advance!
Show LessHow much NVRAM do we have access to? In MMP920732SW-AN102-D1 it states that we can specify an ID from 0x10 to 0x6F with maximum block size of 255 bytes. Does this mean that we have ((0x6F - 0x10) * 255 bytes) = 24225 bytes? Do we need to be concerned about frequently read/writing from the same ID?
Show LessI am trying to give a name to a custom GATT service that I built with PRIMARY_SERVICE_UUID128() macro. I can't find the macro that would do that. Currently my custom service shows up as "unknown service" on my iPhone BLE application.
If someone tried that before I would be happy to hear some suggestions!
Thanks!
Show LessHello,
I've seen that the BCM20737 chip was supporting RSA directly from the hardware.
What about the BCM20736 ? Is everything done on the software part and what are the performances ?
Show LessI couldn't locate the max current draw on a I/O pin in the Electrical section of the the BCM20736S spec. Does someone know this?
Also, what is the max simultaneous current draw on all the I/O pins combined?
Thank You,
George
Show LessWe just released two new reference designs to the WICED SMART Community site.
- iBeacon (BCM20737 Chip on board) reference design package (WICED Smart Documents & Downloads)
- iBeacon (BCM20736S SIP Module) reference design package (WICED Smart Documents & Downloads)
Each package includes the following:
- Overview Documentation
- Schematic (.PDF and .DSN)
- Layout Files (Gerbers and .BRD)
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
Does anyone use the ARM DSTREAM and DS5 SWD debugger w/ SDK 2.0?
How well does it work? Did you have any problems getting it up and running?
Are there any benefits to using it over the tools in SDK 2.0?
Show LessDear all,
Is there any API to change transmission power directly? Right now the only way I know is in BLE_PROFILE_CFG, you can set the value for tx_power_level, and then call bleprofile_Init() to change TX power.
Thanks a lot !
Show LessHello,
I'm just getting started working with the WICED SMART dev kit. I was successfully able to download the hello sensor application to the WICED board and see the application running. However, once I removed power the application erased from memory.
How can I program the WICED SMART so that the program remains on EEPROM memory even though the board is turned off?
Also, if I press the reset button while the board is already programmed and running, the program is erased from memory also. How can I configure my program so that the reset button just restarts the program (not delete the program from memory)?
Thanks.
Show LessI am playing with the GATT database and the read/write property.
I am currently not able to write to the GATT from a peer application running on iPhone (reference: BLE Explorer).
I am able to "read" all the characteristics defined in my custom GATT. I added the GATT callback in case a write is called via legattdb_regWriteHandleCb((LEGATTDB_WRITE_CB) cb). I see this callback being called when I do a write from the peer/iPhone device, but I don't see the value being modified in the peer device application (it keeps the initialization value).
I diffed my application with the hello_sensor.c and one of the main difference is the pairing. I decided not to encrypt the connection for now and test a write from the peer/iPhone device.
Is it mandatory to have a secure connection before initiating a write on SDK1.x TAG20732 from the peer device ?
