Other than using the WICED Studio, how can we create a own programmer for this device? What are all the interface can be used? Any protocol level details on how the boot code is sent? Any examples?

Development with the BCM2073XS series is managed through the WICED Smart SDK, not WICED Studio. WICED Smart can be downloaded here WICED Bluetooth Documents & Downloads
Out of the box, the device family can be programmed either by the SDK (noted above) or the command line tools which are described here: Programming the TAG2/TAG3 Board using command line tools
In addition, we have enabled BP Microsystems (through several global disties) to build tooling around these devices for mass production programming. We are also not looking into enabling another global distribution partner or ours/BP Microsystems for the same type of operation.
