Radar Sensor for speed measurement of a handball

Hello

For a hobby project i would like to create a product that can measure the speed of a handball. The final product should be placed behind the goal an then use the doppler effect to measure the speed of the handbal. The handball is being thrown towards the goal (and therefore towards the radar sensor). I am now searching for a suitable sensor to use. Could anyone suggest something or point me me in the right direction? I have never worked with radar sensors before. So far i have only found radar sensors which can detect traffic. I think those sensors are unable to detect a handball?

Some additional information which might be helpful:
The handballs have a size (diameter) of 15 - 20cm.
They are thrown from a distance of about 7 - 10m.
The sensor should be able to measure velocities of 30 - 150km/h (~20 - 95mph).
I would like to achieve an accuracy of about +/- 2km/h (+/- 1.2mph).

Hi @Matthias1234567 ,

You can measure a maximum speed of ~112 m/s with BGT60TR13C, which is a 60GHz FMCW radar, and your stated speed should be fine even with Sense2GoL pulse, 24GHz doppler based Radar. Additionally as BGT60TR13C provides detection range upto 15m and Sense2GoL provides a detection range upto 18m, the distance range would not be an issue.

As for the size, please note that all our products are designed and tested for human target (RCS) detection. Thus, they have not been tested for the stated values at our side.

You can measure a maximum speed of ~112 m/s with BGT60TR13C, which is a 60GHz FMCW radar, and your stated speed should be fine even with Sense2GoL pulse, 24GHz doppler based Radar.
