Hello,

I have a BGT60LTR11AIP device in SPI mode. I am wondering if it is possible to detect human presence even in conditions where the target is immobile, effectively capturing micro-movements.

However, there is a specific condition I need to meet—I must ensure that this presence is within a radius of 0.5 meters. Therefore, increasing the threshold alone might not be a sufficient solution. I presume this because it would not allow me to determine the distance to the target accurately, whether it is within 0.5 meters or within 7 meters, is that correct?

How could I address this issue?

Hi @fbenetello ,

Primarily, if your requirement is to get the accurate distance of target, the best option would be to go with an FMCW radar (BGT60TR13C) as doppler radars (BGT60LTR11AIP) are not capable of detecting the same, especially if your requirement includes detection of range of static objects. Also, the minimum specified range upto which the motion can be detected accurately for BGT60LTR11AIP is around ~0.5m. So, if you want to detect motion below this range, I would still suggest you to check out the other radars in the portfolio.

But if you want only to detect the presence of a Human target based on micro-movements such as heart/breath rate, you can continue to use BGT60LTR11AIP. This radar is capable to detect the presence of someone working in front of a laptop or PC. You can just adjust the device sensitivity to a high value to always be triggered by such little movements.
