1. The IQ signal is generated from the mixer, but why is the signal passed to a HPF? 
If the signal of frequency difference of LO and Rx is representing the doppler signal, why not passed to a LPF?

2. How to determine the direction of frequency shift from IQ signal? 

3. Is the IQ signal range between 0 to 1?

Hi @annachen ,

Please clarify if you are using the Sense2GoL or Sense2GoL Pulse Board. For Sense2GoL Pulse Board, please refer the codes in C:\IFX_S2GLP-HW-SW_V2.0.0\Firmware_Software\Communication Library\ComLib_C_Interface to understand how the direction is interpreted from I & Q signals.

Please note that the block diagram that you are referring to is of Sense2GoL and not Sense2GoL Pulse demo board. We regret to inform you that in case you are using Sense2GoL, the support for these boards are not offered anymore as the boards have been discontinued. If you are using Sense2GoL Pulse demo board, kindly refer file:///C:/Users/VenkatachalD/Downloads/Infineon-AN598_Sense2GOL_Pulse-ApplicationNotes-v02_00-EN.pd... for the block diagram.

And do you know how to calculate the direction of moving target by I and Q? I want to know the target is getting closer or away from radar. I think it's a same qusetion to how to determine the direction of frequecy shift, like it's shifting up or down?

I know that by doppler effect, the received signal will have higher or lower frequency comparing to LO signal, and but is the output of the mixer output the absolute of frequency shift signal? If so, how to determine it have have shifting up or down?

Or is there any references recommended?
