Hi,

We are evaluating BGT60TR13C sensor-based kit. we have placed sensor module at ceiling height of 2.7m. width is 2m

Following is my observations

1. if two persons are crossing virtual zero-line at same time then sensor will detect as one person.

2. If people are walking one after the other with less than 1feet distance, then sensor will detect as one person.

Please let me know how to resolve these observations

Regards

Hello Gururaja

The entrance counter solution is designed to count when people are passing in front of the radar one by one and not in a group.  Also, the radar device is suggested to be placed such that the people walk across the FoV of the radar. A good example will be placing the radar on the walk through metal detector. For your reference, watch this video where we have implemented the application.

Thanks and regards.

Siddharth

Hi Gururaja,

The capability of the radar to distinguish two objects as two seperate objects is decided by it's range resolution parameter, so you need to configure your radar's range resolution (lesser the better).

You can set this in the Radar Fusion GUI and use the same settings if you are using the RDK applications.

Range resolution depends on the bandwidth (End frequency - Start frequency) and on sampling rate. The greater your bandwidth is, the lesser is your range resolution.  Fixing this should solve your problems.

Thankyou

Siddharth.

Hi

Thanks for the suggestion

We have tried to connect the module with radar fusion GUI through USB interface.

GUI application is showing "No Device is found"

Do we have to download RDK and connect radar fusion GUI to the radar sensor to detect and change the configuration

Hello,

You need to flash the firmware onto your radar device. In the Fusion GUI go to Device and select Flash Firmware  and flash the firmware 'RadarBaseboardMCU7_v255.bin'. Once flashed, you should be able connect to the device.

Also, please note that the configurations done in the Fusion GUI will not apply for RDK applications. For RDK apps, you should set the configurations inside the RDK itself (in the .json files for example).

Thankyou, Siddharth

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback

We are using MM5D91-0B module and tested with IFX_BGT60TR13C_Embedd_MCU4_Module_Config_v1.5.0_build-c196d75 application.

Now we want to flash with radar fusion GUI. But application is not detecting the module. It shows No device detected

Please let me know how fusion GUI detect the module

Hello,

It's not possible to connect your device to Radar Fusion GUI as it doesn't support the board you own.

Does IFX_BGT60TR13C_Embedd_MCU4_Module_Config_v1.5.0_build-c196d75 application let you configure the radar settings like start frequency and end frequency?

Thank you

Siddharth

Hi,

IFX_BGT60TR13C_Embedd_MCU4_Module_Config_v1.5.0_build-c196d75 application will not support for start frequency and end frequency setting.

Need to discuss with Jorjin Technology for firmware modification

Hi

What will be the accuracy of people counting (using BGT60TR13C sensor) when more than 10 people (group) passing through radar module (condition is side by side and one after the other)

In India retail condition, people are crossing in different pattern in entrance gate.

whether mmWave radar module will to support all the conditions

Note: we have placed radar module in ceiling (Horizontal to ground floor)
