Hello.
Would you mind if like to know about EVAL_TDA38740_3.3VOUT.
I was writing to the device using "tuning & debugging" of "XDPDesigner 1.9.0".
(Using USB dongle "USB005(59.31)")
I accidentally wrote something, so I stopped it midway through, but after that, the device was no longer recognized.
If the USB dongle is disconnected during writing or if writing is interrupted midway, will the device become unrecognized?
Also, is there a way to initialize the device in that case?
Sincerely yours.

Hi @yocchi ,

1.Can you kindly let us know which register were you trying to write?
2.How did you stop the write function mid-way?
3.Can you probe the VCC and VOUT and check if you are getting any Voltage?
4.The LED indicated in the picture below should always be blinking for normal operation of the Dongle
Kindly verify this and let us know if the LED is blinking?

Thank you for contacting me.
We will answer your question below.
1. I was trying to write using a device programmer.

2. After steps ① and ② below, the process was interrupted with ③ "Close".

01.png

3. Even if you apply 12V to VCC and turn on the EN switch, no output voltage will be obtained.

4.The LED is constantly blinking green, so it seems to be working normally.
Operation has also been confirmed with a normally functioning board.

Sincerely yours.

Hi @yocchi ,

Power up the board with a 12V input (VIN pin) and check whether Vcc pin is getting 5V or not. If Vcc is not getting 5V, please replace the TDA38740 part with a new one.

Best Regards,

Vishnu P

Hi @yocchi ,

Now, can you able to interface with the GUI via a USB005 dongle and see the output at GUI?

After connecting to the GUI via the USB005 dongle, even if I scan the device, it shows "No device driver connected!".
Sincerely yours.

Hi @yocchi ,

Kindly share the XDPDesigner window screenshot.

Does the XDPDesigner detects the USB005 dongle?

Hi @yocchi ,

Did you install the license file for XDP designer?

Best Regards,

Vishnu P

Thank you for contacting me.
The XDP Designer license file is already installed.
Also, when I checked with another sample board, "TDA38740" was recognized correctly.

As additional information, I checked the address using other tools.
The address was as below.
I hope this helps you.

Sincerely yours.

Hi @yocchi ,

Kindly check the communication lines (DATA and CLK) using a saleae logic and compare this data with a working board. If you are not getting data in communication lines, please replace the TDA38740 part with a new one.

Best Regards,

image.png

We used a logic analyzer to check the data.

〇Address confirmation (8bit)
・OK product
ACK = “20”, “80”
NACK=”FE”

・NG product
ACK=”FE”
NACK="20", "80"

There is no response when reading 0xFF.
(ACK will be returned if the number of data is set to 0)
The device seems to be responding somehow, but it is new.
Do I have to replace it?

Also, is it possible to reset to factory settings (initialization)?

  • Sincerely yours.

Hi @yocchi ,

Kindly enable the test mode of device and check whether the device is detecting or not.

Please follow the below steps to put the TDA38740  into the test mode.

  • Pull up SM_ADDR to 3.6V, 3.6 V should be tuned ON first. Then 12Vin.
  • Use gang programmer application for interfacing with the board.
  • Reprogram using .mic file.

Also, please create a case under tech support in our Infineon Case Management tool to share the Gang programmer application.

Best Regards,

Vishnu P
