Hello @User19535 ,

IR38062 datasheet itself contains a design example which explains both analog mode and digital mode configurations. Have you had a look through it?

Unfortunately, we do not have any other reference design for IR38062 analog mode. Kindly follow the datasheet example. We will support if you face any concerns during the design.

Dear Sir,

based on the below condition, the SW pin doesn't work (no switching).  so we just want to confirm the wire we connected is correct, thanks.

condition: Vin 19V , vout 3.3v

1)RSNS1/RSNS2 499ohm
2)Vref(1+R1/R2)= 1.2V(1+7.87K/4.53K)=3.3v
3)floating below 4 pin
SDA/IMON
SALERT /TMON
SCL/OCSet
ADDR
4) RT 7.1K = 978K
5) P1VB = measured 1.8V
6) VCC - measured 5.1v
7) PGood = measured 0V

Hello @User19535 ,

Below are few observations from the schematic shared.

1. Vsns potential should be maintained between 0.45V to 0.605V.  0.605V is the internal OVP threshold in case of analog mode. Kindly modify the values of R426 & R425 to meet this requirement ( Refer page 35)

Meghana_0-1644592562572.png

2.   Remote voltage sensing:  The input range for the differential amplifier is limited to 1.5V below the VCC rail. Therefore, for applications in which the output voltage is more than 3V, it is recommended to use local sensing, or if remote sensing is a must, then the output voltage between the RS+ and RS-pins must be divided down to less than 3V using a resistive voltage divider. An example circuit for digital mode, Vout>2.55V is shown below. Similar approach can be followed for analog mode as well.

Meghana_1-1644593064562.png

Please note, however, that this modifies the open loop transfer function and requires a change in the compensation network to optimally stabilize the loop.

3. For normal operation, Vp is left floating and a 100 kOhm resistor is connected from Track_En to P1V8. Therefore, in normal operating condition, after Enable goes high, DAC2 ramps up the output voltage until Vfb (voltage
of feedback/Fb pin) reaches about 0.5V. (Refer page 33)

Hence Voltage at FB pin corresponding to actual output voltage should be 0.5V .

Meghana_2-1644593358283.png

This FB pin can be either connected to Remote sense amplifier output or can directly divided down to 0.5 from the converter output. In former case, care should be taken in designing the divider circuit at the input of the remote sense amplifier and the compensation loop.

4. One optional improvement point is that the potential at EN pin can be increased to >4V for normal operation, to utilize the LIGHT LOAD EFFICIENCY ENHANCEMENT(AOT) mode. (Refer page 31)

All references are taken from IC datasheet.

Additionally you can also simulate your design using Infineon designer tool.

Some reference designs of IR38062 in digital mode can be found in below link, which can be refered for more information.

These changes should help in getting the desired output. If you face further issues, kindly let us know.

Hello,

The design documents for the evaluation boards can be found in below link and can be accessed only if you have procured the board and have a serial number.

https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/promopages/productregistration/

Click on "Go To Product Registration Page!" , input the EVM kit name and serial number of your your board. You will then be receiving a confirmation email, through which you can access all design files of the EVM.

If you do not find the EVM on above page, then I recommend you to contact your local sales or distributor . They will help you in getting this data.

Thank you.

Hello,

The product name is right. In this case, request you to contact any Infineon distributor or local sales representative.

Unfortunately, these files cannot be shared on community as this is an open forum.  Hope you understand. Hence you need to create a technical Case under mycase system, for which our local sales team/ distributor can support you. Request you to get in touch with them.

Hello @User19535 ,

To enable digital mode operation, a resistor needs to be connected on ADDR pin of the IC. This sets the PMBus Address Offset for the device. Can you please confirm if this resistor is placed?

Dear Meghana ,

For IRDC38062 EVM,  default vout=1.2V.    In my case I would like to change the Vout=3.3V.

https://www.infineon.com/dgdl/Infineon-IRDC38062-P1V2-RD-v02_01-EN.pdf?fileId=5546d462533600a4015364...

According to datasheet description,  we need to change VSNS and RS+ pin resistor,  so I put

VSNS: R14=R15=499 ohm

RS+: R10=R32=499 ohm

but the GUI tool shows an OVP warning. May I know anything else still need to revise? thanks.

Hello @User19535,

You can refer to the simulation model in below link

https://www.infineon.com/dgdl/Infineon-IR38062_digital_12Vin_3.3Vo_978KHz_15A_singleOut_intLDO_integ...

the specifications of this model is similar to your application. You can also generate the configuration file for the given model specifications. Please check and let us know if you need further support.

Dear Meghana ,

yes, I  follow that simulation schematic to put VSNS/RS+ resistor.  but it doesn't work , just want to confirm with you if anything else needs to be modified, thanks.

VSNS: R14=R15=499 ohm

RS+: R10=R32=499 ohm

Hello @User19535 ,

There are two points which needs to be looked into.

1. The component values : Addition to the resistors mentioned in your previous reply, please also pay attention to the values of the compensation networks connected on RSO and FB pins.

Meghana_0-1645792298748.png

2. Overvoltage Limit : The default OV threshold is set at 0.605V which corresponds 1.210V with below configuration.

VSNS: R14=R15=499 ohm

This internal threshold needs to be modified using the the PMBus command  VIN_OV_FAULT_LIMIT.

Also note, for an OVP threshold programmed to be more than 655 mV greater than the output voltage,
the effective OV threshold ceases to be an absolute value and instead tracks the output voltage with a
655 mV offset.

Please refer to below user guide to the set the value for VIN_OV_FAULT_LIMIT(55h).

https://www.infineon.com/dgdl/Infineon-UN-0060-ApplicationNotes-v01_04-EN.pdf?fileId=5546d4625a88873...

Hope this helps.

Dear Meghana ,

After revising the OVP threshold, the output can reach 3.3V in digital mode.

Regarding to the analog mode 1.8V ,

I revised the EVM and  have tied Enable above 4V.   we follow the datasheet circuit,  still has no output.   no idea why the analog mode can't be implemented.

have you tried the analog mode before? thanks.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IhF7BKSb55fpj8kr6YaF9ck12ADFQ3iY/view?usp=sharing

EVM revise to 1.8v analog mode

Vin=15V

EN=4.2v

PV18=1.8V

vp=4.7v

vcc=5.2v

Hello @User19535 ,

The attached are the snapshots of the circuit and waveforms derived from the simulation model with the same configuration as you have mentioned. The output reaches 1.8V as expected with the divider values as mentioned in your previous message.

Meghana_0-1646317215205.pngMeghana_1-1646317227174.png

The link for the simulation model is also provided below.

https://design.infineon.com/tinaui/designer.php?c=6220ab70bfc78

With the default configuration of IR38062, the resistor values mentioned by you,  should provide you the expected results. Can you please try to redo the experiment and record the voltage waveforms at VOUT, RSO, FB & SW. Please share us these measurements for further analysis if you continue to face the issue.
