Hi all

I would like to share a project on power conversion titled "Digital PFC using XMC4400".

PFC (Power Factor Correction) is a method/scheme devised to improve the power factor of AC-DC converter. By improving the power factor, the overall system efficiency will be increased as well.

In the past, PFC scheme is devised using dedicated analog IC. Due to the advancement of digital signal processing technology, it is now possible to realize PFC control scheme digitally.

XMC4400, an MCU belongs to XMC4000 family, has necessary peripherals to realize the PFC control scheme, such as Floating Point Unit (FPU) for calculation-intensive algorithm, Capture Compare Unit 4 (CCU4) and Versatile Analog-to-Digital (VADC).

The PFC control scheme uses average current mode control and it operates at 100 KHz, continuous conduction mode. It is tested with resistive load up to 350W.

For more information, please find it in the attached Application Guide.

The Example Code can be found here as DAVE3 project.
