How or where do I find 'kit packages' to install for Creator?

ie, for the CY8CKIT-049-42xx

When I run Creator (3.0), under the Examples and Kit bar, it shows "No kit pacakges installed"

I see that...and have dowmloaded it to my machine..

How does that get installed as a 'kit package' in the Creator tool?

(Parhaps this was the wrong kit to use an an example, as I see it references use a 'example project downloaded')

Are there other kits that will appear in the Creator tool?

From the tool itself:

Kits

This link provides a hierarchical list of the installed kits, along with their associated sample projects. You can obtain kits from the Cypress web site.

  • The top level shows the name of the kits. Click on one of them to view the documentation for that kit.
  •
  • Under each kit, you will see sample projects. Click on one of them to create a copy of the example and open it in PSoC Creator. You will be asked where to save the project.
  •

Note If you install any kits while PSoC Creator is running, click the Refresh icon to view those kits. The list will expand to show you what kits are installed.

There are no kit files for the -049 kit. When you look at e.g. the -050 kit page, you find the DVK files packaged in an installer. Executing this one will make the files appear in Creator.

https://youtu.be/v-ZHFygeL2I?t=3m27s indicates what a -049 kit should look like.

I executed the files at as you direct above (I THINK???)

named CY8CKIT050BSetupOnlyPackage.exe

But the -049 kit shown in the video still does not appear for me in the PSoC Creator 3.3

Could you help direct me to which files I am missing?

Maybe it would help if you linked a specific file, or gave the exact filename of the DVK file I should be using on the -050 kit page.

Thank you,

-AJ

And, I have found it.

AT https://youtu.be/v-ZHFygeL2I?t=3m11s into this video, I was baffled about exactly WHAT file to download and install to see the displayed installed kit. I searched for hours, because this section of the video is very ambiguous.

The download file that I needed is actually this one:

http://www.cypress.com/file/184941/download

And, it's on this page:

http://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/psoc-4-cy8ckit-049-4xxx-prototyping-kits

And, it's called

CY8CKIT-049-42xx Kit Only (Kit Design Files, Documentation, Examples)

CY8CKIT04942xxSetupOnlyPackage_revSA.exe

I hope this helps others.

I also documented this as a comment in the YouTube video that I reference above.

Best everyone,
-AJ

To shorten your next search:

Enter "CY8CKIT-049-42xx" into the Keywords field at top of this page. 2 clicks later you can download and install the examples.

I would suggest you to get hands on a CY8CKIT-043 Prototyping kit. As a beginner it is very much easier having debugging capabilities for just a few bucks more. You still can use your -049 board to execute a well tested and debugged project.

When installing the -050 kit files, you can have a look at twhere the files go. It might be possible to put the -049 example projects in a similar location to make them appear in Creator...

Yes, the 049 kits are a little simpler than the usual kits we ship. Instead of installing into the Start Page you just grab the projects from the web page.

Do you guys have a preference?

I like the speed of getting projects directly, but I also like the installed kits because I have just one place to go look and a quick way to create a new project.

The installed versions are handled by Cypress update manager, so

have a maintenance/change advantage.
