PSoC™ 5, 3 & 1 Forum Discussions
Cypress Semiconductor has introduced Version 2.0 of its revolutionary PSoC Creator™ Design Environment for the PSoC® 3 and PSoC 5 programmable system-on-chip families. PSoC Creator 2.0 now interoperates with the popular and powerful Keil µVision® 4 integrated development environment (IDE), enabling software engineers to create PSoC applications using an industry-leading firmware development tool. The integration of the two tools means that PSoC designs can be rapidly drawn, configured and built in PSoC Creator, and the application code built in the familiar and feature-rich µVision® 4 IDE.
The new version also adds 11 new, pre-configured peripheral components that can easily be dropped into the schematic design canvas and combined into powerful systems. Behind the scenes, Cypress has updated PSoC Creator’s design routing functionality. The new, timing-driven routing enables customers to increase clock speed on many designs by 20 percent or more, and increases the effective capacity of the PSoC device. More information on PSoC Creator is available at www.cypress.com/go/psoccreator.
Show LessDear comunity:
I'm working with Psoc5 specifically interrupts in a single pin. When I define falling edge on input as interrupt event and I use ISR 1.50 with derived option, I realized interruption ISR_1 works on falling and rising edges. Is this normal or should work only on falling edge as I defined?
Thanks in advance.
Show LessIn our latest PSoC Creator 2.0 releaes (please see details here), we enabled "CapSense Validation Process" in the CSD component.
The validation mechanism determines whether the board has been sufficiently tuned. This real time validation process allows you to:
1. Verify if the SNR, and give suggestions that if the SNR is is less than the sufficien value, meet sufficient value or optimal values.
2. Identify Cross Talk: During the validation process, the software monitors all elements other than the one you have been told to stimulate. If an element exhibits difference counts that exceed the Crosstalk Threshold Percentage (when not directly stimulated), a crosstalk warning is generated.
3. Export Validation Report: If the validation process uncovers failures, a Validation Report will be displayed. This report
contains the following information:
- Any SNR values less than the Optimal Value
- Any SNR values less than Sufficient Value
- Any signals with a worst-case crosstalk failure, and, if so, the crosstalk number
Our latest application note "PSoC® 3 / PSoC 5 Easy Waveform Generation with the WaveDAC8 Component" describes how the WaveDAC8 component works and how to use it to generate either predefined or custom waveforms.
This application note is also paired with an brief overview video. Please use the link below to access both the video and app note.

Show LessToday I tried to launch the PSoC Programmer from my Computer and I get the following Error Message: "PSoCProgrammer.exe has detected a problem and had to close."
I thought that reinstalling the PSoC Programmer application would solve the problem, so I went online to the Cypress web page and downloaded the latest PSoC Programmer version 3.13.1 and then I ran the installation process. The installation of the new version was successful, but when I launched the new version of the PSoC Programmer application I got the same Error Message.
Signal chains for measurement of analog quantities typically pose the toughest design challenges for engineers. Even a simple signal chain with a resistive sensor and an analog-to-digital data acquisition system involves multiple complex factors that have to be dealt with before a valid measurement can be made.

Show LessOne of my favorite kits is the PSoC 3 Development Kit (CY8CKIT-030). I think it's a great combination of features vs. cost. Recently, we have been debating its lack of a solderless breadboard. I've actually heard the argument both ways. Some people like it without the solderless breadboard and headers because they say they don't want any extra noise in an analog design. Others say it makes it too complicated to develop on.
What do you guys think? Should we keep it the way it is now (without the headers and solderless breadboard) or should we update the kit to include the headers and the breadboard (like what the CY8CKIT-001 PSoC Development Kit has).
Thanks,
Bobby
