PSoC Creater 4.4 will program my CY8KIT-059.
However, Programmer 4.00 will not recognize the device.
However, Programmer will detect my CY8KIT-147.
What must I do to get Programmer to detect the CY8KIT-059 ?

Hi,
Since you are using the PSoC Creator IDE, I thought the "programmer" you were using was a PSoC Programmer.
From the description of "Programmer 4.0", I understood that it is Cypress Programmer, not PSoC Programmer.
Cypress Programmer does not support CY8CKIT-059 for PSoC5LP.
If you want to use programmer for PSoC5LP series, you need to use PSoC Programmer.
Part of the PSoC 4 series is supported by Cypress Progarmmer and the Modus Toolbox IDE.
PSoC Programmer is installed at the same time as PSoC Creator is installed.

Hi,
I think that the KitProg implemented in CY8CKIT-059 is old version.
(1) Open PSoC Programmer
(2) Connect your computer to CY8CKIT-059.
(3) Select "Upgrade Firmware" on "Utirity" tab.
Please try the above process and see if you can program again.

I am getting the "not connected" message, which prevents me from either selecting the menu: Options->Upgrade Firmware or clicking on the "open folder" icon.

Well... I may not have seen "not connected".
What are the state of POWER LED(LED2:Amber) and STATUS LED(LED3:Green) on the CY8CKIT-059?
The above is the screen when it is operating normally.
It is "Successfully connecte... KitProg version 2.21" when the STATUS LED is lighting.
It is "Successfully connecte...CMSIS-DAP version 1.0" when the STATUS LED is blinking.
POWER LED is lighting in either state.
For your reference.

Yes, the POWER LED(LED2:Amber) and STATUS LED(LED3:Green) are ON
This is the procedure I am using to reproduce the issue:
0. connect USB to the CY8CKit.
1. launch PSoc Creater 4.4
2. open my recent Blinky LED project.
3. Build and Clean.
4. debug->program
5. I see the message : Device 'PSoC 5LP CY8C5888LT*-LP097' was successfully programmed .....
5. I see blinky leds! Everything is working as expected.
6. Quit PSoc Creater.
7. Launch Programer 4.0
8. I see the bottom status messages of "Please attach USB probe device to proceed" and "Not Connected".
9. Most menu options are disabled.
10. unplug and replug the CY8CKit
11. There are no change in messages.
12. POWER LED(LED2:Amber) and STATUS LED(LED3:Green) are ON.
13. FYI, the Device Manger shows : KitProg USB-UART (COM4)
