Yes, they will be a pain to solder manually. Looks like I really should get to grips with reflow soldering...

Its one of the most energy-friendliest ways to get something networked. Especially when its about portable devices.

QFN is hard but doable.

   

CSP- never tried that. Would think that is better let the machine to do it.

 I have ordered one of the CY8CKIT-042-BLE kits, and to get started I installed the new Creator package.

   
     I could find no references to internet connectivity.   
   
    
   
   
     How is this done? I searched dozens of Bluetooth sites, but I could not find anything.    
   
        
   
     Some pages mentioned this as a future evolution of L2CAP with no specific info.   
   
    
   
   
     Do you have any working examples that can serve a web page (http) or communicate over the internet??

a question .. i was reading PSoC 4xx7_BLE Family Datasheet in the Ordering information, what does it indicate the codes ES 10 / ES 100 ??

ES = Engineering Sample, not sure what the 10, 100 is.

Chip programming is usually done with MiniProg3

Over at the EEVBlog there was a comment that there is work on a programmer much cheaper than the MiniProg3 (though there was no mention whether it would be a universal).

@Michael: Bluetooth != Internet. BLE devices are intented to communicate with a central devices which they can reach wirelessly.

   

Not all devices need to be internet-connected all the time, in many cases its much better to have one central device where everything comes together. (Maybe you really want to control all thermostats in your house via phone whereever you are, but its probably a bad idea to have all of them connected directly into the internet...)

   

(So 'network of things' might be a better name...)

 @#OK - If you have a PSoC 4 BLE pioner kit (CY8CKIT-042 BLE) then the programmer is built-in to the kit. You don't need a MiniProg3 separately for programming. If you are building your own board, then Miniprog3 is the way to go.

   

@Giaco - I believe ES10 = alpha release, ES100 = Beta release and production version is the final release (ready for mass production).
