When moving from CYBLE-214015-01 to CYBLE-202007-01 we noticed the control register component is not available on the CYBLE-202007-01 platform. We tried triggering the PWM from a GPIO but it does not seem to work. Is there a way to reliably trigger a PWM (Single Shot with Multi-Trigger) on the CYBLE-202007-01?

CYBLE-214015 is built around the PSoC family of microcontrollers. S is for System.
CYBLE-202007 is built around the PRoC family of microcontrollers. R is for Radio.
-202007 has a reduced feature set, thus somewhat lower cost in any quantity.
Control registers are implemented in Universal Digital Blocks (UDBs). The CR functionality is not available in PRoC.
However, you should be able to configure the PWM for hardware trigger:

I don't have a CYBLE-202007 in my lab, so I can't test it, but it should work.
If you started with the base project for -202007, make sure that inputs to the PWM (clock, enable, etc) are enabled.

If it still doesn't work, send me a copy of your project by private email in community and I'll take a look at it. If I can't find anything, I'll scratch up a BLE kit and test it, but that will take me a week to get a kit shipped to my lab.

Thank you, Dennis. I was able to confirm this works.
