First like given

We are designing a second prototype of a product and one of the ideas we would like to implement for the interface is a capacitive backlit volume control, which would light up entirely as the user is increasing the volume.

I have purchased a Cypress kit for the MBR3 series that have backmounted LEDs on regular capacitive buttons and it works really well. Is this doable in a slider? If so,  are there any guidelines on how to properly place the LEDs on the sawtooth pattern on the PCB?

Hello,

I remember looking at this cap sense example I think it is very similar to what you are asking.

https://www.cypress.com/documentation/application-notes-obsolete/light-dimmer-capsense-brightness-co...

It has a bunch of leds in a doble slider config which is a nice feature to have more pads and a longer slider

Hey just to add something more recent and a very neat application of this,

if you get the psoc 4000s prototyping kit https://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/cy8ckit-145-40xx-psoc-4000s-capsense-pr...

has also leds underneath the pcb and it looks really good when lit.
