Overcurrent Protection No hardware shutdown. Software interrupts do not have the highest priority, why?

Interrupt priorities are assignable, pick any order you want.
The LPComp output can be routed directly to the STOP input, this functions the same as a KILL.
There is some variation between parts. Which one are you using? I can investigate a little further.
