Nor Flash Forum Discussions
I have two kind of S29GL512N10FAI01 NOR flash. One of them which has Q code at second line does not work on a special card, but another one which has JJ code works on this card. Their part numbers are same, but their date and die codes are only different. Therefore, I wonder about what is the difference between JJ and Q code. Thanks for your help and support.
Show LessHi,
could anyone help with the acceptable voltage levels for AM29F040B-55JF. I think this part is obsolete now. But need this details. Vcc is 5V but the /CS, /RD, /WR & Addr lines are at 3.3V. Datasheet specifies DC characteristics for both TTL/NMOS & CMOS. But its not clear whether the same device can work on both levels (or) we need to choose a different part number. IF its same device, is there any HW configuration to be done to accept TTL logic signals.
Thanks & Regards

Hi,
I am using an MCU (ATSAME53J20A-AF) together with the S70FL01GSAGMFV010 NOR flash chip.
I want to have the S70FL01GSAGMFV010 be seen as a mass storage device by a USB host (any advice / examples / re-usable code ?).
Secondly I need advice / examples on memory management (i.e. bad sector management) for the NOR flash.
Any examples / advise / re-usable code would be highly appreciated ?
Show LessI am using S29GL032N.
Most the operations (block erasing, write, chip erasing) require a command sequence by writing some specific values to some specific addresses. For example, to ease a block starting at 0x10000, we need :
write 0x555 with 0xAA
write 0x2AA with 0x55
write 0x555 with 0x80
write 0x555 with 0xAA
write 0x2AA with 0x55
write 0x10000 with 0x30
This works.
But today I accidently find the operation still work if I change some MSBs of the address to 1 instead of 0. For example, the below sequence:
write 0xFFD55 with 0xAA
write 0xFFAAA with 0x55
write 0xFFD55 with 0x80
write 0xFFD55 with 0xAA
write 0xFFAAA with 0x55
write 0x10000 with 0x30
It looks like that only bit 0~10 matter. Is this true? Is this a common feature for NOR flash?
How might a NOR Flash component be damaged or degraded if Vio exceeds Vcc?
To know if parts should be replaced, is there any data on the magnitude or duration of Vio exceeding Vcc before degradation or damage occurs?
For Cypress S29GL01GT/S29GL512T parallel NOR Flash:
Section 10.4.2 of the Datasheet shows Vio can exceed Vcc by 200mV: "Vio = 1.65V to Vcc + 200mV"
Section 10.4.3 of the Datasheet then states, "During power-up or power-down VCC must always be greater than or equal to VIO (VCC VIO)."

Show LessHello.
Do you have a machanical charactoristics documents of the SOIC 16(Nor FLASH)?
Ex)Value that can be mechanically damaged, the cases that internal Bonding can be mechanically damaged.
Thanks and Best regards.
Glenn.
Show LessWe are using nor flash S29GL01GP11TFI010 in one of our projects. We came to know that unavailability of the S29GL01GP11TFI010 from distributors. Please confirm the product status of the same. If the product is in EOL . Please suggest alternate part for above.
Show LessIs my understanding of the Automatic Sleep Mode correct? The device enters Automatic Sleep Mode if address doesn't change for 140nS, and remains in automatic sleep mode for 8µs before returning to Standby. Can the device leave Automatic Sleep Mode any sooner than 8µs?
Show LessHi
I am using the flash chips of CYPRESS,S25FL128SAGNFI000, but I have a question that i don't understand..
Now I have completed the VHDL code in my project, and I want to make a simulation of the FLASH part.
At the cypress.com, I have downloaded the S25FL128S - VERILOG(S25fl128s.zip), and extract the .exe, I got the files.
At the model directory, there are several files, which contains the testbench_s25fl128s_vhdl.vhd and the s25fl128s.vhd.
And I just want to make a simple VHDL behavioral simulation of the flash, if the actions right here?
1, instantiate the s25fl128s.vhd as a FLASH module. (and or the testbench_s25fl128s_vhdl.vhd, Which one is right? and what is the difference of these two? )
2, connect the flash module to the control module in my project.
3, begin the simulation, and my project will generate the SCL/CS/.....signals to the flash module, and the flash module will act like the real flash chip.
Is my understanding right?
looking forward to your reply and thank you very much.
