I'm trying to mount the new S25FS256T Semper Nano flash to a breakout board and saw this app note "AN69061 Design, Manufacturing, and Handling Guidelines for Infineon Wafer Level Chip Scale Packages . The app note is five years old, does anyone know if this information is still valid?
Show LessWe are using S25FL064P flash as a code flash with the microcontroller LPC1850 in qspi mode, SPIFI interface. After that we replaced S25FL064P with S25FL256S as we required higher code size. But when we changed flash to S25FL256S from S25FL064P, we found that code executes with half the speed what it was executed in S25FL064P. Checked the SPI clock . In S25FL064P it was about 18MHz while in S25FL256S it was about 11 MHz. Also found that out of 4 data lines I02 & I03 data was not presented in S25FL256S. Has anyone faced this problem ?

Show LessI have a custom board with S25FL256S external flash
I try to read in quad mode, it works but the read speed is the same as when I use commands 0x13 (4READ) or 0x0C (4FAST_READ ) or 0x6C (4QOR ) or 0xEC (4QIOR), all give the same read speed.
I measure the time to read one sector of 64KB, and quad mode reading doesn’t seem to speed reading time.
I'm In quad mode, I set configuration register to 0x02 (quad mode enabled).
The data that I read is correct (because the total sum of the data and that’s what I get after reading).
I was hoping quad read commands 4QOR and 4QIOR would be close to 4 times faster

- Mass
- Encapsulation/Housing Material
- Part CTE with Tg in correct units (typically ppm/degC).
- Lead-frame Base Material (e.g., copper)
- Is Lead-frame certified for AECQ?
- Plating Materials & Thicknesses (inner layer(by%)/outer layer(by%)) [e.g., Ni 0.001-0.002µm/(98%Sn-2%Bi) 0.010-0.20µm]
- What solder method is used? (e.g., reflow, wave (single or multi), selective)
- Are there changes to the soldering process? (yes/no)
- Solder alloy composition on the circuit board (% breakdown)
- Solder Reflow profile, if lead-free solder
- Soldering profile part rating (max temp and time at max temp ratings)

Show LessWhat is the difference between the two memories? apart from size? something else has to change the size, so that one reads it and the other does not.
It is described on page 47 of the above Flash ROM data sheet "Document Number: 002-01522 Rev. * B". According to Figure 9.1 Write Buffer Programming Operation It is written that DQ15-DQ0 should be read again when DQ5 = 1 (see attached figure)
Is there a delay before loading DQ15-DQ0 again? If you need a delay, what is the standard and how many seconds do you need?

however the part number does not seem valid per the datasheetthe 6x8mm package has 2 versions

FAB024 and FAC024, one footprint is a 5x5 ball array and the other is a 6x8 ball array

Dear Cypress support team.
Our company is producing S25FL128SAGMFI003 128Mbit SPI Nor Flash (16-Lead SOIC) utilized applications.
Due to the shortage of parts condition, we are planning to change other alternative parts that is easy to purchase.
Then, we are planning to substitute wth the similar S25FL127SABMFI000.
All the command and software seems no problem, but unfortunately IC's 14pin seems different function.
S25FL128SAGMFI:VIO/RFU
S25FL127SABMFI:NC
We are using the VIO is same as VCC, so we supposed to no need to connect.
But unfortunately the real schematic was connected to the VCC although.
Is that OK with VCC will connect to the 14P NC pin ?
We hope it will cause no problems.
