Nor Flash Forum Discussions
The minimum erasesize of this chip is a Sector, wich for this chip is 4KB throughout the whole chip.
So I only need 4KB Buffers / Caches instead of 4KB + 64KB for higher regions.
Is my understanding of the datasheet correct?
Thanks !

Show LessHello,
I am planning to use NOR flash memory from the Cypress family. Could you please give me access to the source code for "Spansion FFS"? THANK YOU!
Show LessWe have been using the S25FL164K0XB on one of our products for years.
We have made several batches.
No changes have been made to production setup, electronics (PCB, schem, BOM etc) or to bootloader and firmware.
However on the latest batch of this product roughly 1/3 of produced units failed to properly boot after being flash with firmware.
multiple x-rays and quality checks have been made on PCB.
We had production change the flash on 20 failing units and then reprogram. After this 17 passed and 3 failed.
We got our S25FL from trusted supplier, but we also tryed ordering a new batch from another supplier (digi-key) and now tried the same test again: 20 failed units, replace flash. Result 16passed 4 failed.
Could be a timing issue.
However what boggles me is, we have changed nothing from older batches to now.
Have there been a change or some errata to the S25FL164, and where do i find information about this?
Hi,
What is the difference between S29GL128P10FFIS10 and S29GL128P11FFIS40? The package and function? Could you pls provide the data sheet for the both part?
Thanks,

Show LessHi, How can i use s25fs128s as a simple SPI flash. I am using this flash mem with RTD2660 but when i send the command 0x46(comman instruction type is read ) and 0x9f(command for Jedec ID ) but it's not responding, when i read the Jedec id always showing 0xFFFFFF.

Show LessHi there,
could you give me some consideration on the layout of the S70FL01GS Flash? I would like to use this flash in QSPI mode. In fact, I am going to use two of these ICs - one on the Top and another on the Bottom layers. From the datasheet I could see that there is no convenient pin swapping feature (such as in the DDRs), which is a bummer. Are there any consideration that I should keep in mind as to the Layout of the two Flash ICs?
Also, I have found this article http://www.cypress.com/file/217366/download, and I have a few questions regarding its content:
- It says that I have to keep CLK trace 50 Ohm char. impedance. My uC doesn't have 50 Ohm on the output of the QSPI pins (at least nothing is mentioned in the Datasheet). Will it help then to keep it 50 Ohm if I don't even know what is on the output of my SPI CLK pin (impedance-wise)?
- Do I really have to keep all the traces the same length, as critical as 3 mm? (It's just that the QSPI speed is not that high...)
Anyway, any suggestions will be appreciated!
Kind Regards,
Den
Show LessHi,
my product use nor flash S25FL128S , I want to implement the write protect fucntion.
I already setted the status register to 0x14 (BP0-2 = 0b101), and setted configuration register to 0x28 (TBPROT = 1).
The flash behave is flash be protected the address start from the top, but I want protected address start from the bottom.
Question:
1. How can i implement my idea, flash be protected the address start from the bottom.
2. you have example to me?
Show LessHi, If the DNU and RFU pins are short-circuited with the adjacent pins, please tell me the behavior of S25FL512SDSMFM010 that can be assumed.
Show LessHi
S70FL01GSAGMFI011 have a pin VIO/RFU, but the datasheet said:
Note that the Versatile I/O (VIO) power supply (pin 14 on the 16-pin SO package and ball E4 on the 5x5 BGA package) is not
supported, and pin 14 and ball E4 are RFU (Reserved for Future Use) in the standard configuration of the S70FL01GS device.
Contact your local sales office to confirm availability with the VIO feature enabled.
If CYP have this product with VIO function? -- I can power 3.3V or 1.8V to VIO.
