Hello,

Thank you for contacting Infineon Community. Please see below.

The Theta JA is 26 C/W

The Theta JB is 19 C/W

The Theta JC is 6.5 C/W

Tj = 92.1 C

Thank you

Regards,

Bushra

Thanks.

According to datasheet:

Storage Temperature Plastic Packages –65°C to +150°C
Ambient Temperature with Power Applied –65°C to +125°C

Absolute maximum junction temperature should be higher than 125°C. Why is it low as 92.1°C ?

Hello,

There is a slight error in Bushra's calculation. The S29PL127J70BFI040 has an industrial temperature grade rating of -40C to +85C.  Therefore, the  Maximum Operating Junction Temperature is,  Tj = Ta + (Pd x ja) , where :

Ta =  85 C

Pd(max) =   252 mW  (70mA x 3.6V)

ja = 26 C/W

Therefore, Tj = (252mW x 26) + 85 = 91.55 C

It is not recommended to operate the S29PL127J beyond its specified maximum operating range, especially at 125C, as erratic operation may occur due to operating beyond the specified temperature range, but no permanent or irreversible damage will result.
