Hello

I am trying to configure the BLDC motor using the MCE wizard, can the motor directly be operated using the MCE wizard? or do we need the SPI or any other communication to configure the driver in order to run  the motor(if the gate driver is required to do so).

Hi @cw2611,

can the motor directly be operated using the MCE wizard?

No, The motor cannot be operated from MCE Wizard. MCE Wizard is used to generate the configuration file for the motor.  Using MCE designer you will be able to run the motor directly. Please refer to the MCE Designer user guide, downloaded with MCEDesigner and should be stored in the same folder as the tool location and the same for the MCE Wizard User guide.

For more details please refer to Getting Started with iMOTION™ 2.0

Thanks,

The MCE Wizard generates the configuration file, which can be programmed using MCE Designer.

MCE is able to control the motor from 4 types of inputs. Type of control input can be configured using
MCEWizard.

 UART control
In UART control mode, motor start, stop and speed change are controlled by UART commands.

 Vsp analog input
In Vsp Analog Input control mode, the motor operations like motor start, motor stop and speed change are
controlled by applying an analog voltage signal. Direction of the motor is controlled by a separate pin.

 Frequency input
In Frequency Input control mode, the motor operations like motor start, motor stop and speed change are
controlled by applying a square wave frequency signal on digital IO pin. Direction of the motor is controlled by
a separate pin.

 Duty cycle input
In Duty Cycle Input control mode, the motor operations like motor start, motor stop and speed change are
controlled by varying the duty cycle of a rectangular wave signal on digital IO pin. Direction of the motor is
controlled by a separate pin.

For further details, kindly refer to the contents under the sections 2.1.13 and 2.3 of the Software Reference Manual .

Best Regards,
Sai
