Question: 

IRSM005-301MHTR    H-Bridge

 

- can it be used as a ON/Off switch (no PWM inputs),

It looks like the Vboot is generated from PWM at the Output.

My application is for ON time=20 Seconds Off time >+ infinity

I.E. it needs to operate as a SPST switch  20 Sec 'ON' 20 Sec 'OFF'    than all output are tristated .

 

please advise.

Hello @zvipesh ,

Following is my understanding of your problem and providing an answer based on that. 
kindly refer attached figure 1

Requirement is of providing "+Vbus" across primary of the transformer during extend state.
Requirement is of providing "0 Volt" across primary of the transformer during Idle state.
Requirement is of providing "-Vbus" across primary of the transformer during retract state.
 
Actuator extend: 
To do this, please provide Hin1, Lin2 as logic 1 and Hin2, Lin1 as Logic 0. 
Idle state:
To do this, please provide Lin1, Lin2, as logic 1 and Hin1, Hin2 as logic 0.
Actuator Retract: 
To do this, please provide Hin2, Lin1 as logic 1 and Hin1, Lin2 as logic 0.

Note: 
No need of an opto based gate driver, before entering into an actuator extend state, keep the system in the idle state so that the bootstrap capacitor can be fully charged.

Also, I request you to follow the case from case management.

Can I generate the Vboot by connecting the Vboot-capacitor to GND via switched N-FET at 1KHz 

See Figure 1: Typical Application Connection on Datasheet

Just checked the web site and saw your answer.

Thank you , I did not get a message that you have replied ...

Just want to confirm that the High side will remain "On"  for the 20 Seconds duration 

activating / deactivating the solenoid ?   Will the capacitor hold for that time ?

Note:   can you set it up so I would get an email when case was updated ?

Also ,  what should be the value of the Gate resistors ?

between (HO - G1) and (LO-G2)
