What is the repetitive turn off energy (Ear) for the PROFET+2 family?
When PROFET devices are driving inductive loads the turn off energy must be considered to select the proper device for the application. The PROFET device must be chosen properly to have the ability to demagnetize the inductive load during turn off for the life of the application. In the Infineon datasheet this parameter is called Maximum Energy Dissipation Repetitive Pulse (parameter symbol Ear) and can be found in the Absolute Maximum Ratings section of the datasheet.
The link below is an apnote which gives the Ear vs Load Current and also the permissible load inductance value vs Load Current for each member of the PROFET+2 family.
