Do the following to use EZ-USB™ HX3PD as a Type-C hub, and disable PD from upstream (US) and downstream (DS1) ports.
Convert the US PD port into Type-C port
- Connect CC1 of the US Type-C connector to pin D3 of HX3PD. Similarly, connect CC2 of the Type-C connector to pin B3 of HX3PD.
- Add a potential divider circuit between VBUS_MON_P0 (pin D4) and US_VBUS. Based on VBUS from the Type-C connector, CCG4 will enable VBUS to turn ON the hub. VBUS_C_CTRL_P0 (H4 pin) will output VBUS_US to enable the hub for normal operation.
- Connect the I2C lines of the hub controller I2C_SCL_HUB (M5) and I2C_SDA_HUB (G10) to the I2C lines of DMC I2C_SCL1 (pin E11) and I2C_SDA1 (pin D11) with a 2.2 kΩ pull-up of each line.

- Connect CC1 of DS1 Type-C connector to pin D8 of HX3PD. Similarly, connect CC2 of the Type-C connector to pin C7 of HX3PD.
- For the DS1 port:
a) Connect a potential divider circuit between VBUS_MON_P1 (B5 pin) and US_VBUS. Based on VBUS from the Type-C connector, CCG4 will enable VBUS to turn ON the hub. - Connect VBUS_P_CTRL_P1 (pin D6) to enable the pin of the power DS1 switch.
- Connect VCONN_MON_P1 (pin C8) to the hub pin PWREN_P1 (pin J6).
- Connect OCP_DET_P1 (C6 pin) to the power switch’s overcurrent detection pin. Ensure that it goes to OVCUR_P1 (pin K6) of the hub.
- Connect the I2C lines of the hub controller (I2C_SCL_HUB and I2C_SDA_HUB; pins M5 and G10) to the I2C lines of the DMC (I2C_SCL1 and I2C_SDA1; pins E11 and D11). See Figure 4.
