Table 1 describes the cautions for the text color. For more details, see the PSoC™ Creator user guide.
Table 1 Dragging a pin
Pin style |
Description |
Text color |
White with black text indicates that pin guidance information has not yet been calculated. This pin may or may not be a valid assignment once it has been calculated. |
Text color |
Green with black text indicates this is a valid (recommended) assignment. |
Text color |
Yellow with black text indicates this is a valid assignment, but there is a consequence if you select it (for example, resource usage). |
Text color (or Text color) |
Gray with black or white text indicates this is not a legal pin assignment due to silicon or design constraint. |
|
Pins that have signals assigned to them are drawn with a black border. |
The user does not strictly care about the text color. PSoC™ Creator automatically routes internally according to different configurations of different components. Use green color pins for analog components, as few analog signals are more sensitive about the routing between the pin pad and internal blocks.
For example, use any available PSoC™ or CAPSESNE™ sensor pins. CAPSENSE™ sensor pins are not sensitive to different internal routings.
While the SAR ADC input is more sensitive to the internal routing from the sensor's pin pad to the internal SAR ADC block. A yellow color pin’s assignment may possess more risk for the ADC result. The reason is, that compared with the green color pins (recommended pins), a yellow color pin’s assignment may generate additional internal routings for the ADC input. There would be more extra resistors and parasitic capacitances than expectation or calculation for the ADC input, which may cause more errors in the ADC result.
The green color pins for SAR ADC input can be routed to the internal ADC AMUXBUS dedicatedly using the shortest routing trace. Therefore, use the green color pins for a SAR ADC application.
